if your new please read this before posting.

this is an FAQ for all newbs so you dont have to ask the same question a million times.

Q: how long does it take for my hair to start locking?

A: no matter if you back comb or go natural it will take an average of 8 months till they START to mature. depending on your hair texture this time can be shorter or longer.

Q: how should i sleep?

A: how ever you feel like it.

Q: my hair is this many inchs long. when can i get dreads?

A: people have back combed an when natural with short hair. just the shorter it is the longer it will take to lock an the longer it will take to actually look good. it would be best to wait till your hair is actually long if you dont wanna look messy for a long time.

Q: theres wax in my hair. what do i do?

A: try soaking ACV ( apple cider vinegar )in your hair an your scalp for for 45 min at the most. you can put a bag an towel over your head to mask the smell while you wait. then just rinse it out with warm water. try that maybe once a week. if theres still a problem try dish soap. if its still a problem wait till something bad happens then cut. ACV can be found are your local food store.

Q: what do i wash my hair with?

A: most people on here tend to use Dr. Bronners all natural soap. they have differnt kinds. peppermint is good for ichies or dandruff. some people use ACV an bakeing soda.

Q: how do i wash my hair?

A: like you normally would. an when you dry it rinse them out by sqweezing them an you can either let them air dry or blow try them. jus make sure there totally dry before you get them wet again. otherwise mold has been known to occour. yes your hair will untangle a bit in the shower or normally. just wait it out an it will fix itself in time. i promise.

also if you use Dr. B its good to dilute it. the mixture i use is 25% soap 75% water. i put it in a little dixy cup an stir wit my finger. then pour evenly on my scalp an massage in. an mush them into the locks as well. just make sure you rinse them out good cause sometimes you will leave some soap behind.

Q: where can i find a tam or beads etc...

A: www.google.com or some people on here make them.

Q: should i root flip?

A: no

Q: what is root flippin?

A: dont worry about it.

Q: my dreads got loose should i rebackcomb them?

A: no. just wait it out. you will only damage your hair.

Q: my roots arnt locking up can i should i...

A: no. just wait. it will lock.

also you dont make dreadlocks you grow them. it takes along time for your hair to lock an mature. so dont be like look at my dreads i just backcomb them today.

if i think of anything else ill add it.
