I voted fleas, though I do not know how bad mildew smells; perhaps that is why I have never feared getting mildew in my dreads.

personally I think Mildew is worse, Fleas can definitely be taken care of, not saying its easy but really you can get those critters out.

Mildew is much more difficult IMO, it's like rot/gunk/and everything in between in the center of your dreads and it'll most likely get worse.

I never had either and they're both bad, but Mildew can be a real pain, and they stink horribly.

I'd say mildew, never had either but mildew sounds like it would suck more. My hair smells musty after a shower, if I didnt wash it, and that makes me nervous, but I think it's just from not washing every day.

How do you check for mildew?
