How do I bleach my dreads platinum blonde by Halloween? Hello! I'm new to this forum, and I've had my dreads for a year now. They are about shoulder length and are knotted up pretty well (I'll show pics soon). For Halloween I want to be Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, and to carry off the Luna look I really want to bleach my dreads platinum blonde. Has anyone ever done this with dreads? I've never dyed my hair any color before, it's still completely natural. My dreads are very dark, however, very dark brown.

… while i love Luna...i personally wouldn't
i've bleached my dreads a bunch of times... BUT i''d done it countless times beforedreads so i know how my hair handles it...mines light brown to start and it still takes longer than recommended or they'll go orange-y. youd probably get brassy hair and be tempted to rebleach... and hair does start breaking at some point...
one last thought - i would NEVER bleach without a serrrriooous conditioning afterwards, so if you dont think your knots are set enough to withstand heavy conditioner...

Re: How do I bleach my dreads platinum blonde by Halloween? ^ I agree- that color is hard to get dreads or no dreads and often is a legnthy process usually best done at a salon....so espically if you've not done it before it may not be the best idea...and worse if you end up with an alergic reaction to the chemicals.
Hope you have a fun Halloween.

Re: How do I bleach my dreads platinum blonde by Halloween? I've messed about with hair colourants for well over two decades.I agree with everything said above.

… I bleached mine about four months ago (they're about a year old), the girl at the salon being a mate of mine. First it went proper canary yellow, then white; so unnaturally white she had to tone it back to a slightly more natural colour... My hair was light brown, but it still took a while. And yeah, conditioner helps, as the hair goes dry as hell...
