Back to the past
...Javert reached exactly the same place again , now standing there staring at the water just as if he had not left it at all ... Everything was dark , the sky above as the water beyond ... Javert took of his hat... he climbed over the rail and ... fell
A noise like he had never known makes him open his eyes . The sunlight dazzles him and makes his headache even worse when suddenly a strange thing passes him with a speed like nothing that he had ever seen ...Is that it ? Life after death ? But he feels even more than alive , his whole body aching as if he just fell on the ground from meters above. Javert looks arround , now sitting on a meadow with strange things thrown on it...
Coke ? What the hell is Coke ?
He lifts up one of the many tins thrown away by drivers and cuts his finger on a sharp edge
Hell ... this is hell he mutters in shock when another group of fast passing bys come up . Scared like never ever he cowers on the dirty meadow next to a roadhouse he hasn't noticed , shivering from fear

Over a year has passed . An older man is working in one of Paris' many small cafés . Exept the facts that he smokes a lot and does his job with diligence , nobody can tell a lot about him . Some small talk about things like the weather - apart from that he is the opposite of what we would call talkactive . They call him Javier . Often you can see him leaning against a wall , smoking a cigarette , deeply lost in thoughts - in this moments Javier becomes a secret in person and when he arrived the corner people spent lots of time guessing about 'could be's and 'might be's ... but as time went by they lumped the fact that he was just a bit different and lived on their lifes , no more caring about this quiet contemporary.
... who is he ? Of course the same man who planned to end his life and jumped off a bridge in 1832 ... really the same ? Months and months his mind has been forced to believe that what has happend to him has not happened , that he was not a police inspector of the 19th century , that he must have had a nervous breakdown , a heavily mental shock and so on...and now , after all that time spending in a mental house he finally gave up , gave up his knowledge , his identity , believed them and became Javier , living on from day to day to day to day.....
just sometimes... at nights ... he wakes up waiting for somebody... but why ? Who would know him ? He could not even remember his past , though deep inside he felt in such moments that there was somebody to find , something else than this world...

with no words a tall hand ofers the young woman a cigarette . As she looks up , their eyes meet for a second and Javier suddenly feels a shudder. A carriage , some men with top hats , the sound of a river - pictures meet his mind like a lightening
