((OOC: Well, because we have modern high school and adult Mizzies, why not have middle school/junior high?  ))
Thirteen-year-old Etta twirled one long braid around her finger as she glanced around the schoolyard for a familiar face. Etta hugged her brand new velvet blazer, loving the feel of new clothes on the first day of school.
Now, where were her friends?

On the bench next to Marius sat a pretty young girl with bright blue eyes. Cosette was new to the school. She was new to public school in general. She had spent every year before in an all girl's Catholic school. It had taken a lot of convincing, but her father had finally agreed to let her start junior high in a public school. But now that she was here, she felt oddly out of place. Everyone already knew each other, and Cosette felt a bit anxious.
She passed by a nice looking boy and gave him a friendly smile. He looked down immediately at his shoes. Cosette sighed. She supposed fitting in would be harder than she thought.
