Grantaire staggers slightly, as another memory hits him.
'But father, if we succeed, a new Republic will be brought about, and we will all be able to live in peace!' A young man, tall, broadshouldered, with light brown hair and a clean-shaven face, confronts the man from before, head held high.
‘You won’t succeed!’ the father growls, bearing down on the other. ‘You’ll fail and die in that Revolution of yours, and you can, for all I care!’
Grantaire is scared, and he cowers in his corner. The father whirls from the boy and leaves, stalking out of the room. The young man then turns to Grantaire, his face softening.
‘…will you be alright, Julien?’ Grantaire hears himself ask, though he seems much younger.
‘Yes, Marcelin. I’ll be safe, I promise. And when we win the battle with Napolean, I’ll come and get you, alright?’ the young man, obviously named Julien, assures him. Grantaire nods, a small smile forming on his face.
‘Do you promise?’ he asks, hopefully.
‘I promise.’
“Marcelin?” Joly’s concerned voice jolts Grantaire out of his reviere. “Marcelin? Is something wrong?” Grantaire blinks at him a moment before he replies.
“…there was a boy this time…Julien. He talked about a revolution.” Grantaire looks to Joly. “Who was Napolean?” Joly blinks a moment, surprised, before he answers.
“Napolean was a general that was exiled, but then came back to be the leader of a republic, but instead crowned himself emperor.” Joly glances to the other people in the room. "I know a couple of you have older siblings that were in Napolean's revolution...does the name Julien ring any bells?"

Courfeyrac blinks at that, and raises a hand. "Yeah, actually!" he says. "My brother was in Napolean's army, too, and he was often talking about a young man, a friend of his, named Julien. Maybe it's the same guy Marce saw." He's rather interested now. No one has ever known much about Grantaire, but it seems now that they are about to find out.

L'Aigle places his hand over Musichetta's and squeezes it comfortingly.
"That's not a bad idea." he voices, with a nod of his head. "What does everyone else think?" Grantaire is oddly quiet, as though he does not know what to say at all, which he probably doesn't.
