Cosette notices the young man adjusting his tie and staring sadly at his shoes, making a face. She didn't see why, they were rather nice shoes. ((haha I love how in the book Marius was always worried about his shoes. *huggles him*))
The other handsome man was pushing him forward and he started to approach her. Cosette nervously glanced at her father, who looked as if he was about to have an anuerism. He pulled her away quickly, but not before Cosette caught the boy's eye and gave him an embarassed smile.
As they walked away, the wind began to act up, sending Cosette's curls flying about her face. Suddenly, there was a large gust, and before she knew it, her skirts were flying up and her garter was exposed for all the world to see.
"Oh, oh my." She quickly pushed them down, noticing her father glaring menacingly at the two young men, both of who were staring at her with dropped jaws.
Well, she thought, that's one way to get his attention.

Marius immediately closes his mouth and covers his eyes like a five-year old. He makes that same squeaking noise as he takes a few steps back, nearly tripping over himself.
"Oh, my..." he mutters, looking down at his shoes...again. "Oh, dear me, I should- I should just.. go..."

Before she can think better of it, Cosette slyly knocks her hat from her head, sending it flying in the wind and sending her father running after it. When he is out of earshot, she calls out to the young man.
"W-wait! Don't go! Please. I don't even know your name..."

Cosette curtsies automatically before responding shakilly, "I'm Euphrasie." She thought her real name sounded much more elegant and adult than her childhood nickname. But, sentimentality reigned supreme, and she added, "Actually, Cosette. That's what everyone calls me."
She smiles at him pretilly (she hopes) and extends her gloved hand to him.
((ohhh goodness, now I have a mental image of Marius squeaking with a machine gun and a lady in a bikini. oh no.))
