Javert nodded to Enjolras as a sign of understanding, and then added "Dervaux, my name is Dervaux"

"Well then thank you Monsieur Dervaux"

He hears a snort and rounds angrily on the three giggling men, the three think they're all in for it but he stares directly into Grantaire's eyes.

"Winecask! You drunken sod this is no laughing matter! This man has just given us an advantage over our foe, so now there is a good chance we will not all die as you so morbidly predict. His being here alone shows that the people have not forsaken thoes who fight for them, we have hope! Get your head out of the bottle and see that this upcoming fight could decide the future of France!"

The laughter on Grantaire's face immediatly died, and, staring into those cold blue eyes, he let his cynical mask fall back in place, a smirk that did not reach his veiled eyes. Courfeyrac and the other chuckling revolutionary, Feuilly, had fallen silent under their leader's harsh reprimand, though it was not aimed at them.

"Perdon, Apollo." Grantaire drawled. "I will try to take my head out of this bottle of which you speak, though I am not making any promises." And saying so, he withdrew from the crowd and turned to leave.

He stares after the dark man as he stalks out the door. He waits for the door to close before asking

"Will someone go after him and make sure he stays. No matter how iritating he is we will need him before the day is out."

Gabriel was secretly hurt by how little the other man seemed to care. He wondered why the drunk came at all if the cause was not important to him. Enjolras knew he didn't show it but he really did value their own friendship and cared deeply for his well being. It was not healthy to drink so much.

Re: Back at the Barricade....

“I’ll go.” Courfeyrac volunteered. “Feuilly can fill me in later.” He turned and hurried after Grantaire, listening to the door slam shut behind him.

“Oi! Winecask!” he called, but Grantaire did not slow. “R!” Courfeyrac tried; still no response. “Dammit, Marcelin, you know you deserved that, so stop sulking!” Courfeyrac’s temper got the better of him and he snarled the last statement quite loudly, causing Grantaire to stop in his tracks and turn and face his red-headed friend.

“So what if I did deserve it?” the cynic asked, shrugging his shoulders in nonchalance as Courfeyrac caught up to him. “I’m not leaving, ‘Fey, if that’s what your worried about.”

“Actually,” Courfeyrac corrected. “I’m a bit more worried about Enjolras. You hurt him with that, Marce.” Grantaire twitched slightly as Courfeyrac called the cynic by the shortened version of his Christian name, and began walking again, Courfeyrac staying by his side this time.

Grantaire snorted in reply.
“Of course I did.” he answered, sarcasm dripping from his words. “Sure as pigs fly I did.” Courfeyrac shook his head at the drunk on a heavy sigh.

“You two..” he muttered. “What are we to do with you?” Grantaire stopped in his tracks, staring at Courfeyrac with a mixture of disbelief and confusion.

“Ríchard Courfeyrac, I do not know what you have been drinking, but I think it is much stronger than the absinthe I usually nurse.” the cynic quipped, and the redhead rolled his eyes in reply.

“Very funny.” Courfeyrac intoned. “Both of you are so horrible at hiding feelings from everyone but each other, and both of you remain completely oblivious.” Courfeyrac grinned slyly at Grantaire. “Unluckily for you, the rest of us are not so blind; except for Pontmercy, maybe, but that boy has always been more dreamy than Jehan.” Grantaire flushed, shoving his hands deep into the pockets of his worn trousers.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” the drunk denied, his eyes cast at the ground. This only made Courfeyrac’s smirk widen.

“Right. You are so full of bullsh1t.”

Grantaire’s head jerked up at the explanative and he glared viciously at the redhead.
“Alright then!” he challenged. “Explain it to me!”

Courfeyrac laughed, guiding Grantaire over to a free spot on the barricade that was hidden slightly behind a cart so they would have privacy…hopefully. But, with any luck, a certain blond Leader would accidentally listen in, if L’Aingles’s and his plan worked.

~~~
Back inside the Café, L’Aingles approached Enjolras after the blond leader stepped down off his pedestal and dismissed them all to go get prepared. The bald revolutionary was trying very hard to keep the crafty grin off his face, but he was failing quite miserably.
“Oi! Enjolras!” he called, coming over to the blond’s side.
Re: Back at the Barricade....
so this was it..if he was there she would die with him..for thats what would happen..glancing at her reflection in a shop window pulling the massive coat tighter round her she could easily pass as a young lad and they would need all the help they could get..she wasnt scared of dying, in fact she was more afraid of living and why shouldnt she be? she had nothing to live for..either way she would loose him, to Cosette or to the Revolution. If you couldnt beat them join them!
Gaining entry to the barricade climbing over she looks around for the leader..that was a lie she was looking for marius but if she found the leader first so be it!
"Er...may I speak to you outside for a second?" L'Aingles asked, urging the blond towards the door.
"Er...well..." L'Aingles fumbled for words as he set off towards the designated meeting spot. He and 'Fey had not gone over this part, and the bald revolutionary had never been very good at small talk. "Um...er...it's...it's about Grantaire."
