Re: Materpiece Optimus prime 20th anniversary trailer projects
Hey I thought of an idea to do for 20th Prime.....I am going to do some looking around to try and find the right size of fuel drums to attach over the old ones like boots. My idea is to fill the inside with like some type of foam that just slips over the ones on 20th Prime, so when he is in vehicle mode his fule tanks look more to scale......Just thought I would share it with you.
Have a good day,
-Gregg

that,s a good idea since i too feel like the fuel tanks are a bit small but i think it was taken in consideration when they designed it.... but change is good

Re: Materpiece Optimus prime 20th anniversary trailer projects
I've got a green flashing LED insert rig for MPC/20AOP's rifle. If you guys are interested I could diagram the parts and send this place a copy.
To install you follow these easy steps:
1: Remove barrel tip (easier than it sounds).
2: Unscrew the retainer screw in the back.
3: Separate the two halves.
4: Remove the "Barrel Gem" (It pops right out)
5: File small slot on the "handled half" for the toggle switch.
5: Insert the battery/switch/LED assembly.
6: Reassemble the rifle.
7: Flip toggle to on and it will strobe green or whatever color of LED you use.
Of course non flashing LEDs can be used, which do use less batteries to power. It's just a matter of prefference.
Also I am as many are truly amazed at how incredible of a job you have done on the trailer project Mark. Rest assured I will be ordering one of the "All the fixins" versions by the end of the month. I was sort of wembling on it till I read your comment of the parts being machine cut from now on, which sold me right there. No offense but some of the edges did look rough on the prototypes, but hell when I tinker some of my cutting and filing is just as rough at first. Also thanks for giving us out in cyber world an opportunity to purchase such fine craftsmanship from you. I realize you are getting paid but you didn't have to share your tallent with others.
So any thoughts on mass producing your starship character or any other custom robots? seeing as how they rock and all.
Keep up the brilliant work.

Hey Carnivorax,
That's a great idea with the gun. Do you have pictures or links to the exact supplies you used for the internals/LED? Also exactly how the whole assembly lays out when you have the parts installed in before you close up the gun? I am interested in making this modifaction to my gun.....
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Re: Materpiece Optimus prime 20th anniversary trailer projects
Hey Mark,
I know I am sending you my payment this week for the second $100 for the trailer.....I saw on the front page that the time table for producing the trailers might drop a few weeks? If there is any change in production date and you need the money sooner, What I can do is send the final $100 for my trailer two weeks after this coming Thursday. That way as soon as it is completed i'll just need to pay for the shipping. Any new production pictures? I am dying to see how good things are looking..... =)
Have a great day!

Re: Materpiece Optimus prime 20th anniversary trailer projects
hi !!!
well that,s a neat idea for the riffle something that takara should have tought of... but it takes transformers fan to do the job for them the type of batteries are thoses of watches right ? or very small i must say that thus far i,m very impress with the creativity that i see with you guys and also someone as also suggested to build a trailer that makes an ULTRA MAGNUS armor for prime i dont remember his name but believe me it,s a VERY tempting project and is one that my mind is warping around with althought i have other projects comming also (when time allows...) a jazz alternator (silver or white porche)also a rebuild of my stardrive project....
as for your comments carnivorax thanks i,m happy that you like the trailer... if the prototype seems a bit rought it,s because i made it very rushed because i needed a prototype that i could refine later and right now it,s really refined...some parts are machine cut but allot of the smaller pieces are hand cut because of the limitation of machinerie and i try to be as precise as possible and thus far things look great !!!
as for gregg well the production is going great hope to have the orders ready by mid may rather the end of may ... but that,s if everything is comming nicely one thing i might do is not finish all of the trailer at the same time to give you guys a chance to breathe dont worry i,m flexible in payment terms
the news that i gave for the few weeks dropping is especially for thoses who will be in batch 3 i know it,s not pleasant to wait very long for something that you want so with batch one and batch two who might finsh sooner it will give a chance for them to get one sooner !!!
as for production pictures i will try to include some in the next update !!!
until next time guys !!!

I will have to take mine apart and inventory what I used. All the parts I found at my local Radio Shack. The total was about $9 as I recall.
Basically you take some wire, solder, and some scrap plastic and make a battery holder with contacts on each end. Solder the switch into the wiring, and then solder the LED into circuit after the switch.
Sort of like this:
/~[Neg]Batteries{Pos]~Switch~LED~[Neg]~/
You place the LED where the Beam gem was, which may take bit of build up with some scotch tape (Go conservative on this so the LED doesn't overheat.) or some putty.
I have been considering getting one of the Gundam Optic Led units because they come with a magnetic switch so no holes have to be filed but they run about $25 to puchase and ship, so I'm currently looking into a more domestic or scratch built version of a magnetic switch.
I have no host for images and such so I may just mail some pics and diagrams to Mark if he wants to put them up. (Wink,wink,nudge,nudge...)

Hey there Carnivorax,
What Gundam figure are you talking about to get the LED with the magnetic switch? If I can find it in the store on a figure, I will just rip it out and install it in the rifle. Wouldn't something still have to be cut off the rifle for the switch to work?
Let me know, I would like to try and do this this week. It'll give me a project to work on.

the switches I mentioned are in some option parts kits made by Bandai Japan for their gundam line.
