Re: transformers halloween costumes
For those interested in what kinds of characters and costumes are already out there, I've compiled a webpage at http://tfcosplay.buildtolearn.net
It includes links to Mark's site, as well as other examples of Transformers (and other robot and robotlike) costumes. If you'd heard about "Bumblebee Girl" Anna Fischer, Jace Moore's Starscream, Akihide Fukui's Jazz/Breakdown, or Robowang's many creations, but weren't sure where to find them, this is the place.
At the moment, it's in low-bandwidth mode. Click on the thumbnails to link to full-size versions.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
Looks like marksprojects got mentioned on melovegrimlock.com and from there made its way to thetransformers.net
Neither of them seem to be dated, so I can't tell if you're breaking news, which is a pity.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
You've got some wicked costumes, I'm currently workin on my 4th costume a new optimus costume with a proper matrix chamber that's operated with motors, I'm still workin out some of the kinks but it should turn out great. That TFcosplay site is a great idea, I had no idea there was anyone else out there making transformers costumes.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
As soon as I can find somewhere to post pictures of my soundwave costume I'll put up a link. I love your transforming costumes, I've been trying to work out some design details to make a grimlock transforming costume but I'm still trying to get past a few issues.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
If this is a G1 Grimlock (as opposed to a RiD Grimlock), I'd imagine the major problem would be that if the costume transforms the same way as the original toy, you're going to be trying to walk around on your knuckles in dino mode.
Actually, if you can walk around on your knuckles, that'd be pretty impressive...
I'm not quite sure what the best way to get around this would be. I did once work out a rough design for a triple-changing Snapdragon costume, but that only worked because -
a) The head didn't detach at any point, and
b) The transformation to dino mode cheated a *lot* and was only possible in the end due to the blockiness of the main torso. Grimlock has a semi-organic shape in dino mode, so the same scheme wouldn't work as well.
In any case, good luck with Grimlock. Let me know when you get pics of the Soundwave and/or Optimus costumes up, and I'll link to them from TFCosplay.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
i must agree i,ve studied allot of transformers in the past 10 years and believe me grimlock is a no go.... unless of course you make it transform into an other way... but that would radically change either the dino or the robot mode.... the only things that i do know that you can succeed are cars and some plane and thanks and some monsters... other then that...if you can find a way that would be great but me personnally i try to build a great looking vehicule first and build the robot to fit vehicule... that way people go crazy when they see the vehicule mode ....believe me and also the ladies really appreciate a man in uniform lol that is a transformer uniform of course.....
