Wow, that VF-1S Strike Valkyrie was pretty (except it doesn't seem to have a tail).

Fark: Slashdot for jocks. But just as capable of melting your server from the inside out.
Hey, someone posted Goktimus Prime's pic. That costume gets more internet love than Paris Hilton.
Oh toaststrips, someone linked to TFCosplay. I'll... just go and sweep up the pieces :/

I'd also suggest making the pelvis plate taller, that would cut into the size of the torso a bit more.
I'm just fixing this now. Here's some crappy video screen caps of littler-torso Optimus running around my neighbourhood:
Hmmm, need to take in those hips a little ....
But the proportions seem a lot nicer!
Now for some better legs ...

Not yet, but they will. I actually put a glow stick inside his head today to see how that worked and I wasn't too happy with it. Looks like I'll have to do it the old fashioned way and install some electronics.
Actually, I'm trying to figure out how I can make his mouthplate move when he talks before I tackle the eyes.

Re: transformers halloween costumes
A rubber band, some string, and exaggerated jaw movements. Might not be too comfortable, though.
Glad to see my idea worked. I was just making it up.

How about a variation on this - a mechanical (meaning non-electronic) link to the wearer's jaw movement, but rigged so that it scales up the natural range of motion. No need for super-exaggerated expressions while talking, then.
Also, no batteries = less weight and heat. Just make sure the battle mask isn't made of super-heavy materials unless you're a tobacco or gumchewing champ.

I've noticed a curious phenomenon: when you run around town as a Dalek from Dr who you can't keep people away, but when you hide the pavement as Optimus then everyone stays the heck away. Maybe they were cowed by his massive 8 foot tall looming presence.

It damn well worked, though!
And I'm really not expecting the jaw mechanism to to be comfortable at all ... add to that the radio microphone headset and it's gonna be damned annoying.
