I definietly want more pics. In fact, I'd love some video fpptage of the communicator in action!
I have a relatively small (<200K) video of the communicator, but I have no idea how to post it here, short of emailing to anyone. It's in 3g2 format (from my Treo). If anyone has ideas, let me know.
I'll be getting more video when he goes to his Halloween party at the school on Friday, and at the kids costume contest at the mall on Saturday.

Re: TF cosplay from the web
On a different note... I said earlier that my son was contemplating a Soundwave costume for next year. Has anyone had experience, or know of a voice changer that could be wired into a helmet that would turn his voice into something resembling Soundwave's voice? That is the only part of the costume that may cause me trouble. The rest should be relatively easy. (It helps that I have three engineers who want to help me with it!) One has already offered to start working on a strobing LED effect for the shoulder-mounted missile launcher. Most of our products have LEDs in them, so getting lights, boards and wires should be no problem. I also got my cardboard from here (although it's regular corrugated cardboard - nothing special). Even obtaining a smoky plexiglass for the cassette door shouldn't be a problem, since I just have to take one of our scrapped products and cannibalize it. The voice changer is what vexes me. Any input? Thanks!

Re: TF cosplay from the web
Just got back from the mall. Out of over 200 kids and adults, my son won Best Overall! He won a weekend for four at a spa/resort up north along with tickets to the adjoining huge water park! He also got a huge cookie, a book, and a gift certificate for $50 to Gameworks. Roughly $500-600 worth of stuff!
It was funny as hell. I had at least a dozen families ask to take pictures with their kids (including a Japanese family that I thought would never stop!)
I could get used to this. Now for next year....

Re: TF cosplay from the web
For a voice changer, just hit your local department store during halloween. The 'monster voice' setting should make any kid's voice deep and booming.
I used one for mine. I set it on normal, so it was just an amplifier. It gave my voice a tinny quality, and it made my optimus prime impression come out spot-on.
"Ironhide, I need you to make a special run to 7-11. Buy me some bags of ice."
