Does Whitley need a Youth Club?
Youth club for Whitley?
Melksham 1st is holding a meeting to discuss the possibility of setting up a youth club in Whitley.
In response to the comments of residents on Eden Grove, Whitley in an article on the front page of the last issue of Melksham Independent News, the possibility of a youth club in the village will be discussed at Melksham 1st’s youth issues meeting on Wednesday 18th April, 7.00pm at the Town Hall, Melksham.
Melksham 1st holds regular youth issues meetings which focus on the needs of young people in the area. The group pushes forward new projects for young people and supports volunteers running youth groups.
The youth issues group is made up of residents, the Housing Society, councillors, police, youth development services, youth organisations, Youth Action Wiltshire, and others who together work to tackle local issues and to improve what is on offer for young people in the area.
“It is amazing what can be achieved if we all work together,” said Carolyn Beale, Melksham 1st director. “Members of the group have helped to set up the homework club for young people in Berryfields and are currently investigating running the community bus from the villages into youth facilities within the town. The group is also giving support to volunteers running facilities such as the Youth Café.’
“If you are interested in this proposal and can offer a few hours of your time each week to help run a club, please do attend,” she added.
For more information please contact Melksham 1st on 01225 899265 or email carolynbeale@melksham1st.org.uk .
