Photos in the newspaper
Please can you nice "newspapaper" people tell me why the prices of your pictures in the paper have gone up from a very reasonable £1.00 to a very unreasonable £3.50?
I ad wantede to order several photos that were in the papaer with my children in them.....at that price I am afraid I only ordered one rather than the 4 I had wanted....made do instead with cutting the black and white picture out of the paper itself
Such a shame that it has to be this pricey??

Re: Photos in the newspaper
Hi Springchicken,
In response to your comment regarding the cost of photographs from Wiltshire Publications, we would just like to clarify a couple of things.
We used to sell surplus photographs for £1 each when we used film cameras, as we would take several photographs at every event and the extra ones could then be sold cheaply to anyone who wanted them (We donated all of the money raised from these sales to the Carnival and Party in the Park fund).
One problem with this system was that we could not guarantee that the pictures we sold would be of as good quality as the ones that appeared in the newspaper, and when we switched to digital photography we had to rethink the system.
You are now able to buy identical copies of the photos that appear in Melksham Independent News, White Horse News and Frome Times, and the costs are as follows; 7"x5" = £3.50, 8"x6" = £4.50 and 8"x11.5" = £5.50. The price of the copies has been raised to cover the costs of printer cartridges, quality photograph paper and of course the time it takes us to now print these images when requested. The cost is considerably less than some other local newspapers who charge as much as £8 for a 7"x5" print.
We would also like to mention that all proceeds from our family message sections in Melksham Independent News and White Horse News still go to charity.

Re: Photos in the newspaper
Thanks for that Ben.
I still think its costly(and yes I know other papers charge more....but I dont buy photos from other papers )
I always donate each time I put a family annoncement in the paper......which is approx 5 times a year and I always donate generously........
I would be interested to know if your are selling as many photos still under this new system.....and are donations still being made from this system or is the lights fund losing out cos you have now gone "digital" and dont have the surplus photos?
Very happy with my photo btw, just a shame I couldnt afford to buy more,as I would have done previously and tbh when its photos of your children in the navitity or winning a local competition I dont think you notice the quality wasnt as good as it could have been...just glad to have a photo at a cheap price to keep as a momento.
Anyway ,not a critism,(oh well maybe just a little one!!)....still think your paper is great....keep up the good work and a Happy new year to you all!

Re: Photos in the newspaper
could these digital images not be sent via e-mail to those that required them, thus saving on ink and photo paper ??
We are able to print them ourselves at a much cheaper cost !!
