JANUARY

• Friday 19th

Daytime: Walk for Health Campaign organised walk starting at White Sheet Down and heading via the downland meadows. Distance 5 miles approx. Tel 01373 302956.

7.30pm: There will be an evening fund-raiser for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, in memory of Michelle Phillips, on Friday 19th January 2007. The event will be held at Melksham Assembly Hall. There will be dancing, once again, to the Zig Zag Band, and there will be an envelope raffle. Tickets cost £5 from the Assembly Hall or Sandra and John Phillips on 702485

7.30pm: Champagne will be on offer in Broughton Gifford to launch the 2007 ‘Music in Our Churches’ concert series. Monkton Combe be performing at St Mary’s, Broughton Gifford, entertaining the audience with string quartets, woodwind and brass, soloists and singers. 8.00pm: Holt Dramatic Society’s ‘The Tingle Factor’ at the Holt Village Hall. Have you a favourite piece of music which induces a tingle in the spine? If so - bring it (on a CD or cassette) for others to hear and, before we listen to it, explain briefly why it appeals to you, or else simply come and listen to other people’s choices, bring, share a supper and enjoy. Each piece should not exceed 5 mins in length - if you have a favourite please ring Dee Hughes 783709.

7.30pm: A jazz concert in celebration of the lives of Jack Pennington and Danny Sheppard is being organised by their families at the Avon Sports and Social Club, Melksham House, Market Place, Melksham. Admission is £10 with all profits going the charity Dorothy House Hospice Care. • Tuesday 23rd

Daytime: Walk for Health Campaign organised walk starting at Drucers, Brokerswood and heading via Druces meadows. Distance 3 miles approx. Tel 01373 302956.

• Thursday 25th

7.30pm: Westbury Evening Townswomen’s Guild meeting at Grasscacres Centre. Visitors £2 (including refreshments). This week’s topic is Terracotta Warriors.

• Friday 26th

Daytime: Walk for Health Campaign organised walk starting at Sells Green and heading via the canal and meadows. Distance 5 miles approx. Tel 01373 302956.

Evening: The Dilton Players present their annual pantomime at Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall. This year’s performance is Rumpelstiltskin. Tickets cost £5.50 (£3.50 conc.) and are available from Dilton Marsh post office, Dilton Marsh Primary School or by telephoning 01373 827597.

7.30pm: Skittles evening at North Bradley Peace Memorial Hall. Under 8s must be accompanied. £2 per person including refreshments.

• Saturday 27th

Daytime: Westbury Naturalists Society walk at Langford Lakes. Tel 01373 822005 for further information.

Afternoon & Evening: The Dilton Players present their annual pantomime at Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall (see above).

7.30pm: Melksham Entertainment Group are organising another 60s spectacular to be held on 27th January 2007 at the Assembly Hall. The performers include Union Gap, and the Dakotas, who will be supported by Terry Vickers. Tickets £10 in advance and £12.50 on the door (if available). • Sunday 28th

5.30pm: There will be a family bingo evening at the Bowerhill Village Hall. Eyes down at 6.00pm. 50p a book. Refreshments will be available. Why not grab a pen and come and have a game?

• Tuesday 30th

Daytime: Walk for Health Campaign organised walk starting at Westbury sports centre and heading via Penleigh/Westbury Leigh. Distance 3 miles approx. Tel 01373 302956.

February

• Friday 26th

Evening: ‘Pink Fraud’, the UK’s top Pink Floyd tribute band, will be performing at the Melksham Assembly Hall. The concert will be a special fundraiser for Dorothy House in memory of Gill Goodhind. Tickets at £9 (£8 concessions) go on sale on Monday 8th January at Melksham Assembly Hall, Melksham Tourist Information Centre. Tickets are expected to sell quickly.
