Entertainment for all at Westbury Conservative Club

WESTBURY Conservative Club is looking forward to another busy year in 2007, with plenty of live music, theme nights and entertainment along the way!

The club, based in Alfred Street, Westbury, has gone from strength to strength in recent years, aided by refurbishments both indoors and outdoors, and it is hoped that even more people will join up in 2007 to add to the list of over 800 members.
There are loads of good reasons to join the club, not least of which is the live entertainment every weekend, featuring the best live music acts from across the region. Local acts such as MGB, Us Two, Five x Five and Just For Fun play at the club - guaranteed to at least get your feet tapping as they play an eclectic mix of music from the 60s to the present day.
What’s more, for an evening out it won’t break the bank! Prices at the Conservative Club are extremely low (starting from £2 a pint!) so you can afford to have a night out with your friends and family.
Chris Payne, manager at the club, believes that its success is due in part to listening to the needs of members, and making sure that there’s something to entertain them at the weekends. “There’s always something going on,” he said, “There’s always some sort of a party or a live band or a theme night. We’ve got a wide range of members, so we try and put on entertainment that appeals to everyone if we can, and we like to hear suggestions about what people want.”
Entertainments manager Peter Hammond added, “I think there has been some misconception in the past that the Conservative Club is a ‘stuffy’ place for old people to talk about politics - it’s not. We have members of all ages from all walks of life who join the club to have fun and meet new people.
“The club is a family-friendly environment where people come for a good time.”
As a member, you can make suggestions about what you would like to see, whether it’s a theme night, fancy dress party or a quiz night, the committee will be more than happy to hear your suggestions and do their best to provide the entertainment that you want to see.
The club has all the ingredients you need for a great Saturday night - live entertainment, lots of people, cheap alcohol, and comfortable, clean surroundings.
In 2006 the club unveiled its newly refurbished bar area and children’s play area, and work will carry on in 2007 on other areas of the club. The work is part of an ongoing project to restore the listed building and add new facilities. It is hoped that by the end of the summer a brand new kitchen area will have been installed, allowing the club to serve hot meals during opening times.
If you want to hold a party or reception for any occasion, Westbury Conservative Club can offer you a function room large enough for 200 guests, and can also provide a buffet. For more information contact Chris Payne at the club on 01373 822557. If you would like to enquire about becoming a member, you can telephone the above number. Membership costs just £10 for the year.

Chris Rainbow will be entertaining the crowds at Westbury Conservative Club on Saturday 27th January - for more details ring 01373 822557!

A children's play area indeed! Is that on the "catch them while they're young" principle?

Seriously, though, I've been to a few good events at the Cons club, always very welcoming and the beer seems to improve each time too!
