Westbury Bypass
Wiltshire County Council have put on their website documents pertaining to the proposed appointment of "a Contractor to commence Phase 1 (design support) for the A350 Westbury Bypass on an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract".
To find them, as ever go to http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/assemblies-and-committees-diary-and-year-book/council-meetings.htm and click on the "meeting papers" link, then rummage around like so: Click on "02. Cabinet (Executive)", then "Proposed Delegated Decisions (From 1 June 2006)", then "07 - Environment Transport & Economic Development"
This Bypass scheme was originally supposed to be the least cost option but now that costs have escalated even before anyone has lifted a shovel, I'm wondering how much less the Western route would have cost? It would certainly have been a lot less environmentally damaging.
