Why reverse traffic flow along the High Street?

Councillor Hawker says that "Reversing the traffic flow" will acheive the "most easily understood" improvement ...

I think Cllr Hawker is possibly the only person who does understand it. He says it would encourage people shopping at Coopers to drive on to the High Street and park there to do some more shopping. How crazy is that? Why not walk the short distance from Coopers to the High Street and save driving round only to find there aren't any parking places left when you get there anyway? And what if you want to shop in the High Street first before going on to Coopers? That's what I'd do if I was buying anything frozen - the other way around and it might be melted by the time I got home.

I've never actually seen Cllr Hawker shopping in Westbury. I wonder if he ever does. emoticon
