Re: Rurouni Kenshin: Tides Of Blood

Saitoh got up slowly, gripping his chest.

Saitoh:"Good, your skilled now...Samurai."

Sano: "That's it?"

Saitoh lit a match on his button and sparked a cigarette, he took a puff.

Saitoh: "Yeah."

Sano: "Dammit Saitoh!! We're not through!"

Saitoh shook out the match and stomped it into the pale sand.

Saitoh (smiling slightly.): "Syonnarah, you aho!"

Sano: "Dammit Saitoh!! Get back here!!"

Saitoh: "May you be a better man than I, Mr. Sagara."

With that, Saitoh dissapeared down the street.

Sano: "How can a guy like him...how can he act so cruel and then actually be mentoring me all along?"

Kenshin smiled and put his hand on Sano's shoulder.

Kenshin: "In the old days, he was known as one of the greatest Masters, perhaps Saitoh was teaching me as well, to find balance.."

Saitoh walked down the street, and to a tiny house on the corner. He opened the back sliding door and stepped in.

Saitoh: "Hello? Anyone here? I'm home!"

A small boy toddled down the stone path, arms out stretched.

Tsugaji:"Papa!"

Saitoh raised the small boy above him, the boy grabbed his police hat and put it on, it sunk down, past his ears.

Saitoh: "This...this is worth all of my cruelty, my violence, to protect this feeling."

Saitoh smiled.

Saitoh: "In a few years, my son, in a few years."

Tokio: "Hajime!"

Saitoh sighed and put Tsugaji down.

Saitoh: "Yes dear?"

Tokio: "How was work?"

Saitoh: "S.S.D.D."

Tokio: "I see."

She hugged him and he winced.

Tokio: "You're hurt?"

Saitoh: "It's nothing."

Tokio (eyes filling with tears.): "That police job of yours..I worry Hajime."

Saitoh: "Someone has to do it."

Tokio: "Why don't you retire? Work in a museum or something?"

Saitoh: "Museum?"

A ten year old boy ran to greet his father.

Eiji: "Father!! Father how I've missed you!! How is Mr. Himura?"

Saitoh: "He's...better."

Eiji: "ARe you going to teach me today, Father? Teach me the Hirazukuri Style!"

Saitoh: "I will, but it is not a toy Eiji."

Eiji: "I know."

Saitoh unbuttoned his collar.

Saitoh: (You see, battousai? If I befreind you, it would put everything I cherish in danger. So I teach you from a distance, through what appears to be anger and remorse. So that one day you can learn to protect your family by not getting them involved.)

Saitoh threw the young boy his shinai.

Saitho: "Are you ready, son? You are my legacy!!"

Eiji yelled as he charged.

Re: Rurouni Kenshin: Tides Of Blood

In the afternoon, Kenshin went on his daily errands to get groceries from the market for the dinner that night.

He walked to the small grove that was up on the hill before the bridge crossing into downtown. There, he heard a small rustling in the bamboo and maple off the path.

Kenshin: "Hello."

Nothing.

Kenshin: "Blood...a deer perhaps?"

Despite his doubts of any real danger, Kenshin pushed the leaves aside and trotted toward the smell.

The bamboo was cut in a clean circle, and Kenshin's fear was proven to be so.

A girl, a child several years younger than Yahiko lie face down in a pool of her own blood. Kesnhin rushed to her and put his hand on her back.

Kenshin: "She's breathing!"

He flipped her over and noticed deep slash marks around her body.

Kenshin: "Who could do this!!! TELL ME WHO DID THIS!!"

He took off his kimono and wrapped her in it and ran to Takani's as fast as he could, leaping over walls and cutting through gardens until he was there.

Sano: "Well fix my ******* hand then!! You're a doctor!!"

Megumi: "Well, if some dumbass punk would quit getting in fights with certain retired Samurai, maybe he wouldn't have to come in twice a month!!"

The doors bursted open and Kenshin stood before them.

Kenshin: "Megumi-Dono! I need your help!!"

Megumi:"She's lost a lot of blood Kenshin-Sama." Megumi tenderly put her hand on the girl's forehead.

Kenshin layed her down on the table.

Sano:"Hi....Hitomi?"

Kenshin and Megumi looked shocked.

Sano (hugging Hitomi.) :"Why? Why did this happen?"

Megumi pulled out a piece of her hair and ran it through a stitching needle.

Kenshin (putting a cold rag on Hitomi's hair.) "You know her?"

Sano(choking on tears.): "She's...she's in Sasaki Sensei's class...my dearest student."

Kenshin: "Sano..."

Sano (stands up.): "I swear....on the soul of Captain Sigara and on the symbol branded on my back, I will cleave the heart out of Hitomi's attacker!"

Sano storms out and stands on porch.

Megumi falls to the floor.

Kenshin: "Megumi-Dono?"

Megumi (putting hand to mouth.): "I'm sorry Kenshin-Sama....you couldn't have saved, nor could I..it's too late."

Hitomi's hand fell to the side of the bed.

Sano runs into the room.

Sano: "Wake up!!! WAKE UP!!"

Megumi: "She's gone, Sano..."

Sano (grabbing Megumi's robe and pulling her to him.): "Don't you say that!! DON'T SAY IT GODDAMMITT!!!"

Kenshin: "Sano.."

Re: Rurouni Kenshin: Tides Of Blood

Kenshin: "Sano, her parents..I'm sure they're worried by now."

666

Sano let go of Kenshin.

Sano: "Yes...you're right, Kenshin...and I guess I'm the one who's gotta tell 'em too."

Kenshin nodded.

Megumi: "Sanosuke, I am deeply sorry."

Sano: "I know, and thank you."

And so it was that Sanosuke went to the house of Hitomi's parents and told them, carrying the young girl gently in his arms. For the next two weeks, nearly twenty children turned up missing..but none of them recovered.

It was a hot June day, the cicadas buzzed in the trees and heat waves danced above the well at the Kamiya Kasshin School Of Kendo. Himura Kenshin sat quietly on the porch, as he did right after tea.

Kenshin:'Those children.....each of them sustained fatal lacerations throughout the entirity of their body. Torn to ribbons.....but by who? No doubt Tokyo has gained its' own Jack The Ripper...but who is this monster?'

As it was, Kenshin' thoughts were soon broken by a knock at the front gate. Kenshin calmly sat up and hid his concern with a faint smile, he opened the door. Before him stood a stout old man with a light blue doctor's smock. His wrinkled smile was encompassed by a white beard. Taking hold of his hand on either side was two girls, one was about seven the other four.

Kenshin: "Ah, Doctor Gensai how are you? And Ayame and Sezumi, you have candy I see...is it for me, de gozarimasu?"

Ayame: "No way!"

Sezumi: "Yeah! No way!"

Kenshin scratched his head and laughed.

Gensai: "Hello Kenshin-Sama, how are you?"

Kenshin: "Well, I'm doing well. I've been preparing a surprise...Aoshi-Dono and Misao-Dono are planning to come up from Kyoto and the girls from the Akabeko as well."

Gensai: "For Kaoru's birthday, hmm?"

Kenshin: "Yes."

Gensai: "Is she awake, I've got something for her."

Kenshin: "I beleive so, I shall go fetch her."

With that, Kenshin walked to the porch and slid a panel open to the hall, he then kncked gently on the fourth panel to the right.

Kaoru: "Yes, come in."

Kenshin slid open the door and walked in.

Kenshin: "Happy birthday, Kaoru-Dono."

Re: Rurouni Kenshin: Tides Of Blood

Kaoru: "Oh you finally remebered my birthday hmm Kenshin? And what did you get me this year?"

Kenshin: "Oh...well you see, heh heh.."

Kaoru: "So you didn't remeber I see?"

Kenshin: "Oro..."

Dr. Gensai walked down the hall and infront of Kaoru's bedroom.

Gensai: "Oh, Kaoru; I've brought something. It's a gift from your father."

Kaoru: "From..from my father?"

She ran out the room nearly knocking Kenshin to the ground.

Kaoru: "What is it? Please let me see!"

Dr. Gensai pulled a wrinmkled letter from his sleeve, it had a blue ribbon tied around it. Kaoru unwrapped the letter and began reading it.

"My dearest Kaoru,

It is indeed your nineteenth birthday...nineteen years, has

it already been so long? I see that you are reading my

letter, this means I have left you and now walk on a

different plain. Do not concern yourself, you are now a

strong and brave young woman! I am proud to have a daughter

like yourself! This also means that you are now the

official Had Master of The Kamiya Kasshin Ryu, take this

title proudly and with it weild the weapon that has made

our name great! In the old shed, the twelfth plank in the

center will have no nails, lift the plank and find the

legacy of your father!"

Kaoru ran out to the shed as fast as she could and lifted the loose board, under it was a dusty wood chest with two gold dragons carved onto it, she lifted the chest with a grunt and placed it onto the floor, dust rose and sparkled in the sunlight as she lifted the lid, in it was a white boken with red etchings on it.

Kaoru: "Father's sword."

She gently raised the weapon and noticed newspaper clippings underneath.

Kaoru dropped the boken and started to cry.

The note was from her Father, as suspected. It read as this:

          My Dearest Kaoru,

If you are reading such a letter then two things have occured. I have passed on from this life and into the next, for that I am deeply sorry to leave you but it is a path we must all take. Also, you have turned nineteen on this day. As in our tradition, the eldest child of The Kamiya family shall inhereit all rights and mastery of our style. You are the upholder of this from this day forth, Kaoru. As the new Head Master, you have inherited the Sword Of Truth. It represents all things true to the Family Style. With these, I must leave you, I honor your perserverence, you have grown to become such a beutiful woman. I bless the man that shall care for you as I did.
Live well and be happy always.

           Love,

           Father

Re: Rurouni Kenshin: Tides Of Blood

This was not what disturbed Kaoru, Dr. Gensai's dairy was what she found next. It had a red ribbon in the middle of the book, so Kaoru opened to that page and read.

           April Fourth, 1870

"It is on this day, that there world was turned upside-down."

It was a dark evening, the rainclouds where rolling in after they'd all finished dinner. Kamiya Sensei, The Lady Kamiya and Kaoru.

Dr. Gensai: "She just has a common cold. Be certain to give her plenty of Lemon Grass tea and sleep, she'll be fine by morning."

Kamiyas: "Thank you Doctor."

Gensai opened the front panel. "See you tomarrow."

Kamiya Sensei: "Good evening."

He turned and sensed something, an evil thing.

Sensei: "Who's there?"

Nothing.

Sensei checked on Kaoru in her room, she was fast asleep. He heard footsteps and darted in front of Kaoru's open panel, blocking four throwing stars.

Sensei: "Come out of the shadows, or lose in the dark!!"

Man: "Funny, I do hope we can sit for tea."

Sensei: "Kojura! Now that I have unveiled your identity, tell me why you broke into my home!!"

Kojura: "Her."

Sensei: "What?"

Kojura: "You daughter, I want her blood."

Sensei: "You are insane!"

Kojura: "Shut up, will you?"

Kojura pulls out long knife and stabs downward. Sensei blocks with his white boken.

Sensei: "This bokken is as strong as steal."

Sensei pushes upward, hitting Kojura in the face with the ends of the stars attached to his bokken. Sensei then kicked Kojura back into a paneled wall, the wall shattered and Sensei saw his wife, lifeless on the floor.

Sensei: "Tika!"

He ran and picked her up as Kojura hit him in the back with more stars.

At that moment, Dr. Gensai grabbed Kaoru and snuck through the back.

Kojura looked up as he heard Gensai's feet creak on the porch outside.

Kojura: "Gensai!!"

He threw Kamiya Sensei down and ran after them.

Gensai: "Karou...if anything happens, run for the woods..."

Dr. Gensai and Kaoru ran down the muddy streets in between the walls of neighboring estates, there was nowhere to hide.

Kojura: "Then I will tear you both!!" He threw a hook shaped knife toward them, kaoru closed her eyes and heard....the draw of a sword.

  "You are Ishakagara Kojura..aren't you?"

Kojura: "Name yourself!"

The shadowy figure leaped down from the wall and dropped Kojura's now broken knife hilt on the ground. It was Kenshin, he wore a high ponytail and a green kimono with brown hakama, he was only eighteen and at his side was a brand new sakabato, the first of its' kind.

Kenshin: "Himura Kenshin is my name."

Kojura: "I see the manslayer with the cross scar, guided under he laws of Hiten Mitsurugi."

Kenshin: "You sir, are a monster."

Kojura: "No, I am stronger and therefore I have the right to kill when neccesary."

Kenshin: "You will start with this one!"

Kenshin drew his sword.

Kojura lunged, Kenshin dissapered before him and descended from the air, hitting Kojura, breaking his collarbone and left arm.

Kenshin: "Your disease is incurable, it blinds you from the truth in life."

Kojura (spits out blood.) : "You cannot understand bloodlust!"

Kenshin: "Yes Ido, that is why this one carries a flipped weapon. But I also know that all life is sacred and we are mere mortals n this earth, yuo cannot kill others and call yourself a god!"

Kojura: "You can't protect them from this!"

Pulls out a colt .45 pistol. Kenshin thrust the hilt of his sword into Kojura's nose, Kojura passed out.

Kenshin walks by Kaoru and Dr. Gensai.

Kenshin: "This one lost his family as well, I am sorry young one. Be strong, carry on the legacy of your family. Their hearts and memories will make you a gracious woman in the future."

present day.

Kaoru held the diary tightly. "That's how i recognized you, Kenshin."

She bit her lip.

Kaoru: "Even that day, you protected me...Kenshin!"

Kenshin walked inot the shed. "Is something the matter, Kaoru-Dono?"

"Kenshin!!" She said as she flung her arms around him. "It was you! It really was!!"

Kenshin held her tightly. "You remembered. I'm sorry, de gozarimasen. I didn't want to tell you because of the ache it would put on your heart."

"I'm not sad." Kaoru smiled and wiped her tears. "I'm grateful. I'm grateful to have all of you here. Without Sano, Dr. Gensai, Or..." She looked at Kenshin. "Or you, I wouldn't know what to do. Thank you for everything, Kenshin."

"Kaoru-Dono.." Kenshin said, suprised. His look of shock quickly changed to a soft smile. "It was no bother. I'm glad I can be by your side!" He scratched his head. "Well, it's time for me to go buy dinner, I'll be back soon."

"All of that, and now you're leaving?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah. Why? did I forget something?" He smiled again.

"What do you think?" She asked leaning forward.

"Umm." Kenshin squinted, thinking hard. "It's getting late, the market will be lcosed in an hour, I better get going?"

"Wrong answer!!!" She said and hit him with a pile of dusty old scrolls.
