Sakura Taisen Smite Series

Smite the Player!
Oogami-san, you're going down!
Episode 1 - Stood up

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everything seemed fine at the Teigeki that evening. Manager Yoneda was passed out drunk in his office. Kaede was attempting to clean her room. There weren't any demons running around in the city. Yeah, it was all right. No, wait...there seems to be something going on at the entrance...

A chorus of screams surrounded the poor ticketboy Oogami as another big fight had erupted in the main lobby. A drenched Sakura was one of the voices.

"I waited for TWO hours!!"

Outside there was a big rainstorm. Her waiting was only halted by the chances of thunder. Fear of freaking out in public, she retreated back home, only to find that Oogami had been there the whole time, fooling around as usual.

"Honestly, Sakura-san!" Sumire exclaimed, "You think that you can make plans to secretly meet with Shou'i! He knows better!"

"Your mouth is as big as ever..."

"What was that?!"

Airisu climbed onto the ticket stand to out-height her voice competitors. "Onii-chan is mine, Sumire!"

"Hohohoho! But, you're just a child!"

"Airisu is not a child!!!!!"

Holding up a fist, Kanna snapped, "Yo Sumire! Don't go picking on little kids!"

"Airisu is not a little kid!!!"

"Who invited Ape Woman to join this argument."

"The Taichou can see whoever he wants to."

Sumire nodded. "Aa, now that I remember, while Sakura-san was waiting in front of the picture house in the pouring rain, Shou'i was in the dining room, feasting with the Blackhole Woman."

"EEH?!" Sakura exclaims, looking over to the blushing Kanna.

"You have such a big mouth, Snake Woman!"

"Hmp! Why is everyone saying that?!"

Kanna turned to Sakura. "Don't believe that evil Serpent Witch! Taichou was in Kohran's room the whole time!!!"

"NANI?! In her room?! Doing what?!"

Kohran defended herself. "Iyaya, it wasn't anything really. We were just having a little fun..."

"FUN!? What KIND of fun?!"

"Ya, it's nothing at all..."

"NANI?!"

"Calm down, will ya, Sakura-han? He was also in the music room with Orihime-han..."

Orihime cut in. "Hmp, that's only because Ensign-san followed me. I didn't ask him to come and he wouldn't go away. I don't see what's the big deal anyway. He's just a Japanese guy."

* * *
Meanwhile, Oogami was trying to sneak away. But, he was caught by an irate Maria. "Taichou, could you please say something?" she said, "Make them all shut up."

"D-daga..."

"Yes, Taichou, what do you have to say to this?" Reni said.

Airisu exclaimed, "Tell them that what they're saying is nonsense because Onii-chan is Airisu's boyfriend!"

"This will be interesting." Orihime noted.

Oogami blushed slightly. "J-Jaa, I'm terribly sorry for causing such a problem. I didn't mean to. I mean, I did tell Sakura-kun that I would meet her at the picture house, but I lost track of the time." He bowed his head. "Please forgive me!"

Everyone stood around, looking unaffected.

"You are incredible, Oogami-san!" Sakura exclaimed, "You think that's what it's going to take?" Imitating his voice, she said, "'Please forgive me!'....Not this time, pal!"

"E-eh?!"

"You've been leading us on for too long!"

Kohran nodded. "Sakura-han's got a point. You're such a player. I don't think I've ever met a guy who chased so many girls at a time. Didn't it ever occur to you that someone could get hurt?"

Kanna agreed, "Man, that's so disrespectful!"

Orihime said, "What do you expect from a Japanese guy?"

"Hmp, Shou'i seems to go for anything female." Sumire muttered, "He's addicted to women."

"Hey, hey that's not true!" Oogami waved his hands frantically, "I'm a one-woman guy!"

"Aa, who's guy?" Maria asked.

A sweat bead trickled down his face as glaring looks hovered over him. 'Man...this is what they mean by never date in the workplace...'

Smite the Player
Oogami-san, you're going down!
Episode 2 - For Love or Sake

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oogami decided that no matter what he did or said, someone would still be hurt. So, he might as well go at it and say whatever he wanted.

"The truth is I can't decide."

"NEEE?????!!!!!!"

"No matter how hard I try, my feelings for all of you are the same. You're all great girls, however, I don't feel that anyone in particular here is the kind of woman I am looking for."

"What kind of a woman are you looking for, Taichou?" Reni asked.

"Well...a mature woman, who's full of mystery and excitement. I don't know, that's all I can come up with just now..."

Sakura said sadly, "I see...I'm just some simple country girl to you...You had me fooled. You fooled everyone. I cannot forgive you for playing with our hearts!"

Maria said, "I agree. "Taichou, you took advantage of all of us. This kind of behavior is reckless and intolerable. I cannot forgive you either."

Oogami waved his hands frantically. "Gomen, gomen! I like you all a lot and you're all fun to be around with, but I just don't love any of you like that..."

"Onii-chan hates Airisu!!" Airisu screamed, crying.

Kanna patted her on the head. "Now, look what you did." she said, "I even feel like crying."

Sumire crossed her arms. "What did I tell you? Shou'i is a woman addict. He doesn't care who you are, he'll go at you just because you're female. Ahem...the shower incident."

"Shower incident?" Orihime asked.

Oogami cried, "T-that was an accident!!"

"Yeah right." Sumire said, "According to the recent gossip, you like to peek in when someone is bathing or changing."

Everyone gasped. "W-what?!"

Reni noted, "Come to think of it, there was a time when Taichou came in the bath while I was still there."

"Eh?!" Sakura cried, "Reni-san, were you okay???"

"Oh, I did not mind. After all there isn't much difference between males and females except for the fact that...."

Sakura blushed. "Uh, uh, you don't have to explain. (Heheh.)"

Kanna exclaimed, "Taichou, what kind of a sicko are you?!"

Airisu pointed at him. "Onii-chan is a HENTAI!"

Kohran muttered, "Is that why whenever I ask him to 'have a little fun in my room,' he seems to be thinking of something other than Hanafuda...."

"Hanafuda? Is that what the two of you have been doing all this time?" Maria asked.

"HAI, HAI, HAI! THAT'S IT YA!"

"Come on everyone!" Orihime said, "It's obvious he's not worth to waste your feelings on."

"Wait!" Oogami called after all of them, "I'm really sorry...! Dammit, I really messed up."

* * *
Much later, Oogami went into Kaede's room for advice on what had happened. After listening to his story, she nodded quietly to herself.

"What's that suppose to mean?" he asked.

"Well, the girls have a point. You are very careless in the way that you deal with them. I know it's fun to flirt, but it can bring some heart-ache and confusion later."
"Yeah, that's very true..." he replied, nodding, "Na, Kaede-san, I recall that your sister said something similar to me once. What was it again? It was something that went with "rabbits....'"

She laughed. "Aa, yes! Nee-san always said, "The one who chases two rabbits won't find even one." Or in this case, don't go chasing after eight rabbits...that's just plain idiotic."

"R-right."

"Oogami-kun, hang in there."

He blushed. "H-hai, Kaede-san!"

She gave him a firm look. "Oogami-kun, what did we just talk about?"

"Oh, right."

"Good. Now, put it into practice and don't go getting any wrong ideas."

"H-hai. (Man, this is going to be difficult...)"

* * *
Oogami left Kaede's room and decided to go for a walk around the Teigeki. It was time for his night-watch anyway. He went downstairs and heard a large crashing noise coming from the kitchen. He went in only to find that Yoneda had fallen off a chair.

"Chief! Are you okay?"

"Oogami....what're you *hic* doing here?"

"Chief, you're drunk again?" he sighed, helping him back up.

"I woke up suddenly in my office and found that I had no more drink in there, so I came to raid my secret stash. Have some sake with me *hic*."

"I'm feeling horrible, so I could sure use one." Oogami said, sitting down.

Yoneda poured him a glass. "You should not be feeling that way. I mean, hey, you're better off than me. Man, I wish I was like you....young and handsome, a hit with the ladies. I used to be, ya know! I had tons of girlfriends!"

He fell silent all of a sudden. Oogami looked over to him. "Chief...?"

"But now....look at me. Old and alone...I haven't had a date in years! *sniff, sniff*"

"Wai, C-Chief....!" Oogami exclaimed as Yoneda started crying onto his shoulder, "Get a hold of yourself!"

Yoneda pulled himself together. "You're right! What's done is done!" He then had a serious look. "Listen, Oogami. Don't make my mistakes. Find someone, find someone quick....before you end like me, a drunken old man in the military, who has nobody to hold at night except a bottle of sake."

"H-hai." he replied, looking into his glass. It was already empty.

* * *
Oogami left the kitchen, feeling a bit dizzy. His thoughts were messed up too. He kept picturing himself Yoneda's age (whatever that may be) lying somewhere passed out drunk.

"Nooooo! I won't let that happen!" he cried, holding his head.

"Are you all right, Oogami-san?"

He turned around to see Sakura at the staircase. "Sakura-kun...Sakura-kun!" he exclaimed, running to her.

She turned away. "I still cannot forgive you. But, whatever is wrong with you I hope that it isn't anything serious. Good night."

"Wait, Sakura-kun!" he cried, grabbing onto her sleeve, "Don't leave....don't leave me alone!"

"O-Oogami-san? What's with you?"

"I don't want to be alone! I don't want to be a drunken old man!"

"Nani? What are you talking about?"

"Sakura-kun, please stay...stay with me..."

Sakura slapped him. "You're drunk. You don't know what you're saying. I-I....I'm going now!" she said and ran up the stairs.

"Wait...stay....don't leave me alone..." Oogami uttered. All of a sudden everything went blurry and then blank.

* * *
"Aaaah....that feels nice." Oogami uttered in his sleep. He was lying outside in the garden. Shirou was licking his neck. "Mmm....oh, yeah...."

"Oogami-han?"

"Hm?" He opened his eyes to see Kohran standing over him. "K-Kohran? S-Shirou?! Stop it!"

"Heeheehee, Oogami-han, it seems that you're attracted to dogs as well ya."

"Haha, nice joke." he muttered, "I guess I must have wandered out here and passed out."

"Ya, according to Sakura-han, you were really drunk last night."

"Oh, right. I should really apologize to her. My actions were irrational."

"Hm? What actions?"

"Uh, it was nothing!"

Kohran pointed at him. "Oogami-han, you know it will be hard for me to forgive you. I don't think we'll be playing Hanafuda for a while. A long while ya."

"Yes, I know. Gomen, I mean to make amends."

"Ho? How?"

"W-well, I'm not sure yet."

"Hmm...when you figure it out, come talk to me. I don't feel like talking with someone I cannot forgive." she replied and walked away.

"Wait, Kohran!" he cried, "Dammit, everyone is mad at me. And I'm covered with dog slobber...That stuff that Yoneda said, what if it comes true....What am I going to do now?"

Re: Sakura Taisen Smite Series

Smite the Player ~ Oogami-san, you're going down!
Episode 3: The Beginnings of Revenge

“Man, first Sakura-kun, then Kohran....I wonder who else is still mad at me....”

Oogami pondered this as he went up the stairs to his room. At the door he heard noises. “Is someone...inside my room??" He pressed his ear against the door and heard the following voices.

“That was fun. Boy, Onii-chan is going to be mad. Kyahahaha! Let’s go!”

“Affirmative. It is best for us to leave now before the enemy has detected us. Let us retreat.”

Then, there was silence. Oogami wondered what they were doing there as he turned the knob. Then, he figured out. His room was completely trashed and tee-peed. As he stared at the waste dump that once was his very clean room, Kaede peeked in from behind his shoulder.

“Rough night, huh, Oogami-kun?”

* * *
Since there was no where to go to sleep or sit down, Oogami decided to change and get out of there as soon as possible. He figured once he got into work, that he would forget all his worries. Unfortunately for him, the girls in the business office were already informed.

“So, it’s true then....” Yuri was blabbing in his ear as he was sorting some files, “...that you were playing each of the Teigeki girls.”

“I-I wasn’t!!”

“Sure, but that’s what the rumor says.”

Kasumi noted, “You know, Oogami-san, that’s not very gentlemanly.”

“Oi, oi, I didn’t mean to make it look like I was doing such a thing. I like all of them.”

Kasumi and Yuri exchanged looks.

“You can’t like six girls all at the same time.” Kasumi said.

“That’s not right.” Yuri added.

Oogami let out a heavy sigh. “I know, I know.”

* * *
After finishing his work in the office, Oogami went for a walk around the Teigeki. On the second floor, he stopped by the library. He wasn’t surprised to see Maria sitting there, reading like she usually was at that time of the day.

“Aa, Maria, can I talk to you?”

She lifted her head and stared at him. “What is it, Taichou?”

“Well, since last night, I’ve been feeling terrible. So far, Sakura-kun and Kohran aren’t talking to me, while Reni and Iris are launching attacks on me. I don’t know what to do to make them forgive me.”

“...I, too, cannot forgive you.”

“M-Maria!”

She closed the book and placed on the table then turned to him. “I can forgive someone if they truly are sorry for what they did. To prove that they are, they must understand how I felt.”

“How you feel?”

“Taichou, have you ever loved a person, wanted to protect them and to be by their side?”

“........”

“...Then, that person did not share those thoughts and you were completely devastated. Has your heart been ever broken by someone?”

“Uh...I...no...I can’t say that I have...”

“Then, I cannot forgive you.” Maria said, getting up from her seat, “Please excuse me.”

“Maria...” Oogami uttered as he left the library, “Perhaps, none of them will forgive me. But what Maria just said...to understand their feelings....how the heck am I suppose to do that?!”

Just then, he felt a slap on his back. “YOW! What the hell?!” He turned around, but no one was there. Thinking it was his imagination, he continued on his way.

“Kyahaha--mrph!!”

Reni had covered Iris’ mouth as Oogami passed them. “Phew! He almost saw us. Airisu, next time don’t put too much force.”

“Gomen, gomen! But, we got in on target, yes? One try was enough.”

“Yes, let’s see the results...”

* * *
Out on the terrace, Sumire was there, gazing out onto the city. “Sumire-san...”

Sumire turned around to see Sakura. “You startled me! Sakura-san, how rude of you!”

“Gomenasai. I didn’t mean to. You were standing out here for a long time and I was worried about you.”

“There’s nothing wrong with me. I was...just getting some fresh air.”

“Well then, I’ll go back inside.” Sakura said, going for the door.

Sumire suddenly grabbed her by the arm. “Wait, actually, I’m miserable. How could Shou’i be so inconsiderate of my feelings?!”

“Sumire-san...”

“He says he wants “a mature, exciting woman”...like I am not?! How insulting that was! I’m sure that it’s only natural for him to say it to someone as dull as you, but to me, Kanzaki Sumire, the top star of the Teigeki....ah, it broke my heart.”

“Uh, geez, thanks...” Sakura grumbled.

Sumire looked like crying. “I can’t forgive him at all...and yet...my feelings for him...”

Sakura had never seen Sumire like this before. It was strange and she didn’t like it. “Sumire-san...I’m sure that Oogami-san still thinks you’re important.”

“Thank you, Sakura-san. Those words make me feel a little bit better. And perhaps he also thinks of you, too.”

Sakura blushed. “Uh, uh, t-thanks...”

Sumire crossed her arms. “Honestly, though, with a stammering simpleton as yourself, I don’t understand why Shou’i is so indecisive still!!”

Sakura smiled. “That’s the Sumire-san I know.”

“Sakura-kun, Sumire-kun, what are you two doing here?” Oogami asked, coming out on the terrace.

“N-nothing, Oogami-san.”

“Shou’i, we were just leaving.”

“Ah, wait! Why are you leaving?”

Sumire was dragging Sakura. “We have to....go practice our lines. Right, Sakura-san?”

“Didn’t we already....Yow! Don’t tug me so hard!!”

“Let’s go Sakura-san. Best of health to you, Shou’i.”

“Right...” Oogami sighed, turning to the city. The two girls stared at him, then started laughing. “What the?! Hey, what’s the big idea?”

“I-It’s nothing, really, Oogami-san.”

“Y-yes, Shou'i, nothing at all.”

The two rushed back inside, but their laughter was still audible.

“Hehehehehe!!!”

“Hohohohoho!!”

“Geez, why is everyone like that?” Oogami sighed.

* * *
Oogami went to his room and shoved everything off his bed onto the floor. When he went to lie down, he heard a crinkling noise.

“What the...?”

He sat up and reached behind his back. On it was a paper taped on him. He tore it off and read its contents. "I am a player and also a BIG idiot....?! This explains why everyone was laughing at me. Who in the world did this...?”

The handwriting looked familiar. It was a childish scribble...just like Airisu's. He crumpled up the paper.

“That’s it! No more Mr. Nice Idiot! I will do as I please from now on!”

With that, he left his room, intent on doing so. His first move was to the gift shop. Tsubaki was there, looking kawaii as ever, dusting off a shelf.

“Ahh, Oogami-san, you’re back for more bromides? Thank you for your patronage!”

“Yes, sure...” he said, “Tsubaki-chan, would you like to go on a date?”

“Eh? A date?”

“Right now.”

“But, Oogami-san, I’m working right now.”

He quickly took hold of her hand. “Tsubaki-chan...I’ve wanted to be alone with you for a long time.... since we met. You’re all I can think about.”

“Ehh?!” she exclaimed, “Oogami-san, why this all of a sudden...?!”

Just then a voice chimed, “Lie! Lie! Lie!” The two turned to see Kohran, waving her index finger in the air. “Oogami-han, you’re a big liar ya! And this will prove it!” She took out a yellow device.

He screamed, “Oh no! It’s lie detector Makoto!!!”

“Now, re-say those words to Tsubaki-han like before.” she said, placing Makoto on his head.

“N-no way.”

“That’s because you’re lying ya!!”

“NO! To say those words again with someone else in the room will defect their effectiveness. Besides they were very personal words.” he stammered.

“Onii-chan! How dare you go after Tsubaki!!” Airisu yelled from the door.

Oogami was really mad now. “I will go after whomever I want and whenever I please! I’m a grown man! I can do whatever I want!!” he yelled, throwing Makoto off his head.

“O-onii-chan...” Airisu started crying.

The yelling had drawn everyone else outside the Baiten. They all peeked in and wondered what was going on. Reni went to comfort poor Airisu.

Maria said, “Taichou, you really did it this time.”

“I don’t care! I’m sick and tired of all of this! There’s no way I’m going to apologize anymore! Because...I don’t even feel sorry!”

“Shou’i, that can’t be true!” Sumire cried.

“It is. Believe it.” he said gravely.

Smite the Player ~ Oogami-san you're going down!
Episode 4: Regret Sinks In

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oogami was resting in his room, cooling off from losing his temper. He suddenly heard a noise at his window. He wondered what it was and went to check it out.

“AAA! YOU....!”

“The ocean is beautiful isn’t it, Oogami.” Kayama sighed happily, sitting on the ledge.

“We are no where near the ocean and what the heck are you doing there?!”

He smiled. “I heard about the incident downstairs and got worried. It isn’t like you at all.”

“Yeah well...”

“To get upset and say those things...”

“Hmp, what do you care?”

Kayama frowned. “Oogami, those words hurt me. I was only thinking for your own good. It’s going to be difficult to run an assault unit if your members are upset with you. Also, I think you should settle down and be happy. That’s all coming from a fellow like me trying to be your friend.”

“Ah, I’m sorry, Kayama, I didn’t mean to be so awful to you. I’m just frustrated....I can’t settle down and be happy with just one of the girls. I think of each of them in special ways.”

“Oogami, you have to decide on only one girl.”

“WHY?! Why do I have to do that?!”

“Because that’s how it’s done. You decide, build up a serious relationship, get married, etc.”

“M-married?!”

“Well...let’s not get to that so soon.”

Oogami was sitting out with him on the ledge. “But, it’s so difficult.”

“But, it’s not impossible.” Kayama pointed out, “I’ve decided on one person and she and I are very happy, even while working.”

“EH? Who’d be so stupid as to date you.”

“Oogami, that’s mean. Don’t say such things about my beloved.”

“Blech. I wonder who the idiotic woman is, who could put up with your singing about an invisible ocean....”

“Hey, she likes my singing. She lets me use the stage all the time!”

“Eh? Someone in the Teigeki?”

Kayama turned red. “N-no. Well, I better get going. I meant to stop by and see the ocean, er-hem, gotta go! Adios, Oogami!” he chimed nervously, sliding down a pole to the street.

Oogami looked down and watched him disappear. “Hm....I wonder....”

* * *
At that moment, there was a faint noise by his door. He ignored it at first, but it wouldn’t go away. Curious, he went up to the door and listened.

“What is it....? This noise...”

Just then, he realized that it was mumbling. Someone was at his door.

“W-who’s there?!”

He wondered if it was Iris and Reni again, playing pranks on him.

“IRIS, GO TO BED! RENI, YOU TOO!”

The noise continued. Oogami was really freaking out. He decided to go ahead and check out the situation. Opening the door there was a huge...THUD!

“S-Sumire-kun?!” Oogami gasped at the girl lying on the ground, “What are you....?!”

She just laid there, looking dazed for a moment, then broke out in drunken laughter. “Hohohohohohoho!!!!”

“S-Sumire-kun....” Oogami uttered, kneeling down to help her sit up, “Won’t you get a hold of yourself? This isn’t appropriate behavior for someone like you. Sober up, will you?”

“Shou’i....” she said with a smile, “You and I are alike.......”

“Eh?”

“We....we say what we don’t mean....”

“Sumire-kun....”

“Just downstairs...you didn’t mean those things, right? That was a joke, right? Because.... Shou’i.... you would never purposely hurt me like that.”

“It wasn’t on purpose. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”

“Shou’i....” Sumire uttered quietly.

“Y-yes?” he asked, leaning in.

“I-I think....I think I’m going to....be sick....”

With that, she threw up on him.

“AAAAAAAAA!” Oogami screamed.

* * *
After a bath and a change of clothes, Oogami finally got some rest. In the morning, Oogami woke up from another nightmare. This time, the only person who was with him was Yoneda. The two were sitting in an empty bar, while Yoneda was singing insanely into the night.

“I’m old and alone....with this drunken old man....NOOOOOO!”

After recovering, he went to Yoneda’s office, hoping to confide in him.

“Oogami, I’m fully aware of your problem.”

“Y-you are?!”

“Yes, one of the girls came to see me yesterday about it.”

“Really? Who was it?”

“I’m not allowed to say.”

Oogami saw that wasn’t going to get him away, so he said, “What should I do, Chief? They won’t even let me apologize. What if they won’t stop hating me....?”

“Oogami...they don’t hate you. They care about you. But....girls are very fickle, too. It won’t be long before they’ve moved on and found someone else.”

“Are you sure about this, Chief?”

He scratched his receding hair line. “Uh...well....my theory isn’t quite accurate. But, since each of their feelings are strong for you...they won’t keep away for long. Anyway, Oogami, why don’t you go help out in the business office today.”

“Ah! I see, Chief! You want me to get my mind off it by working.”

“Actually, Kasumi told me that they had a whole lot of work that they needed help with and begged me to ask you to help them. But, if you can get absorbed in work and forget about your worries for a little bit, that’s good.”

“Yes sir!” Oogami said happily and left.

Yoneda sighed, “Man...it’s too early in the morning for that....Honestly that guy....”

* * *
In the business office...

“Done! Hand over some more!”

Yuri came over with a stack full of papers. “Wow, Oogami-san, since when have you become so energetic about office work?”

He scratched the back of his head and laughed, “Oh, I just wanna help out that’s all.”

She leaned in and whispered, “Are you in such a good mood because of a rumor I heard?”

“Eh???”

She just dropped the big pile in front of him and smiled mischievously. Oogami chewed on the end of his pen, wondering what that was all about.

Just then, Tsubaki came in, lugging a stuffed bag. She could go no further than a few steps from the door. She finally let go and collapsed on top of it.

“I...can’t move...any....more....” she panted, “Oogami-san...could you....lend me a hand?”

“Of course Tsubaki-chan!” he said, walking over, “What is all of this, by the way?”

“It’s the stars of the Teigeki’s fan mail.”

“Fan mail?”

She nodded. “Yeah, the girls are very popular. They get lots of letters from their fans each week. The post master just dropped off this bundle today. It was such a hassle to drag here.”

“I see...so those are letters for the girls. Wow, it must be great to have so many people admire you.”

“Although, Oogami-san, you should know what that’s like.”

He blushed. “T-that’s not true!”

She let out a giggle then patted his arm. “Anyway, let’s get to sorting all of this.”

Yuri pointed at Tsubaki. “HEEEY! Oogami-san was helping me!”

“Well, he’s helped you all morning. It’s my turn.”

“Your turn? You think you can just come in here and take Oogami-san away?”

“Oogami-san can work with whom ever he wants to.”

Oogami got between them. “Girls, girls! Don’t fight! I’m in such a working mood today, so I am more than happy to assist both of you. Now, since I have been working for Yuri-kun for a long time now, I think I should switch off to Tsubaki-chan. Don’t worry, Yuri-kun, I’ll help you again later. Besides you wouldn’t want this big bundle here to block the door.”

“That’s true....”

“And you can tell me your new gossip while I’m working.”

“Oh, all right. But I’ve only got one rumor today and I can’t tell you.”

“Huh? Why not? What’s the big secret?”

“Sorry, Oogami-san. I can’t this time. You’ll find out later.”

“Oh, fine. Okay, let’s get to work!” Oogami said, bringing over the bag over to a desk, “Ug! This is heavy!”

He and Tsubaki sat down and opened up the sack. There were hundreds of envelopes and postcards.

“Let’s make piles for each of the girls.”

“Got it, Tsubaki-chan.”

They started sorting. It seemed that Sumire was getting the most, but as they moved on, they found that Orihime and Sakura had quite a good number, and surprisingly Reni had the most.

“Someone even sent a parcel of Osaka manjuu to Kanna.” Oogami said, “I’m sure she’s going to love them.”

‘This is a good thing....’ Oogami thought, ‘These letters will cheer up the girls and hopefully they’ll forget that they’re angry and forgive me....’

“Oogami-san....”

“Yes, Tsubaki-chan?”

She held out an envelope. “This letter...it’s for you.”

“Me?”

He took the envelope. It was addressed: To the Ticket-Boy of the Teigeki. There was no return address.

Kasumi looked over his shoulder. “I never thought that the ticket boy could also have fans. This is interesting.”

“Open it, Oogami-san!” Tsubaki cried.

“Yeah, I’m curious to see what she wrote!” Yuri cried.

“Now, girls. I’m working right now. I’ll look at it later.” he replied, putting it in his pocket.

“But, you’ll tell me the contents, right?” Yuri asked.

“Only if you tell me the big secret.” he replied.

“Big secret?” Tsubaki and Kasumi echoed.

“Uh, uh. Can’t! Sorry!” Yuri said.

Smite the Player
Oogami-san, you're going down!
Episode 5: Teigeki Uwasa

Yuri noted, “Perhaps I’ll tell you after you finish deliver these letters to the girls.”

Oogami agreed to it, because he really wanted to know what the secret was and also it was an excuse to attempt to see the girls. If they wanted their mail, they had to talk to him.

Or so he thought.

* * *

Downstairs, Oogami ran into Yuri. “Now that I’ve delivered the mail, will you tell me the big secret?” he begged.

“Oh, all right, but it isn’t a big secret to you, huh?” she said.

“What?”

“Come on, I’ll tell you as we do more paper work.”

So, they went into the office again. Kasumi was occupied with a phone call and Tsubaki was back in the gift shop. As they filed, Yuri told him what she knew.

“Eh? What do you mean, Yuri-kun? Kaede-san was doing what?”

She replied, “Last night, after finishing work at ten o’clock, I went heard a strange noise coming from back stage. I went to go investigate and saw her with a guy....in a personal situation.”

“Uh, you sure?”

“From where I was hiding I wasn’t able to make out the faces, but I’m sure that it was Kaede. And the guy had to be.....you! Right????”

Oogami waved his hands frantically. “Whaaaaat?! No way! I wasn’t there!”

“You weren’t?”

“No, I was upstairs, taking care of Sumire-kun. She was really sick and threw up everywhere.”

“Really? How come you didn’t tell me that earlier? That would be great gossip.”

“Um, actually don’t go around saying that, please. For Sumire-kun’s sake.”

“All right! All right!” Yuri said, then rubbed her chin. “If you weren’t with Kaede-san, who was? Hm....maybe....Manager, Yoneda?”

“EEEEWWW!!” Oogami gagged.

“Heh, it’s just a thought. I swear I heard a man’s voice. There aren’t many men in the Teigeki. What about those guys who live in the basement....the Baragumi?”

“Uh, I don’t think so.”

“Hmm....then who?”

* * *
Oogami decided to see Kaede about this scandal before it got out. Yuri was starting to question her own accuracy, so until the facts were straightened out she could not circulate this new rumor.

“Oogami-kun, what is it?” she asked as he entered her room.

“Can I talk to you about something?” he asked.

She nodded and after offering him a seat replied, “Actually, there’s something I want to talk to you about, too.”

“There is?”

“Yes. Oogami-kun, how’s the situation with the girls going?”

“Not good.” he mumbled, “It seems no matter what I try....they won’t forgive me, or even talk to me. What am I suppose to do? What do they want from me?”

Kaede poured him a cup of tea, then said, “I think what they want, Oogami-kun, is for you... to decide.”

Oogami was surprised. He had heard this before somewhere.

“Oogami-kun, they can’t forgive you because you are fickle and went after each of them carelessly.”

“What are you talking about?! They were throwing themselves at me!” he argued.

Kaede cleared her throat. and replied, “Aren’t we a bit conceited?”

“It’s true! You don’t know what’s it like to be the only male in this Teigeki full of crazy girls! It’s worse than being at a single’s bar!” he cried hysterically.

“Calm down, Oogami-kun. Only you can put this to an end. If you can make a serious decision, then maybe you have a chance again to win back their respect and friendship. Until you can disprove their view of you as a womanizer, things aren’t going to change.”

“I...have to....make a decision.” he uttered, “Like Kayama said...”

“K-Kayama-san?” Kaede was startled by the name, “H-how did he get into the conversation?”

“Oh, that weirdo stopped by my room the other day and practically said the same thing, you did, Kaede-san. He even mentioned that he had a girlfriend, or something like that. I feel sorry for the poor woman. She must of hit her head with a stupid stick.”

“R-Right....Anyway, Oogami-kun, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?”

“Oh, I wanted to hear how your date in the props room went?”

Kaede freaked out. “W-what?! H-how did you....!?”

He smiled. “Don’t go playing around either. Make a decision, too.”

She turned all red and wouldn’t give him any details. Instead, she got suddenly tired and had to go to sleep immediately. That was a big lie which he saw through. And so, Oogami left. He didn’t find out anything about the secret, but he knew what he had to do now....he had to decide on one girl.

* * *
In the hangar, Kohran was talking to someone. “Really? Can I?”

“Sure, if you do this favor for me.”

“All riiight! This is will be fun!” she chimed, leaping up in the air.

“Go ahead.”

Kohran turned to the Oogami doll, sitting on the table. She then whipped out a bazooka. She aimed and fired. A tiny dart came flying out. It hit bull’s eye center, then exploded, leaving a hole in the head.

“Revenge is sweet, my dear Oogami-han, na!”

* * *
“Pick one, pick one, pick one.....but, which one?”

Oogami was lying down in his room, staring at the ceiling. Just then, he felt the envelope in his pocket. He took it out and stared at it. It was daring him to open it. Being curious as he was, he took out the letter. It was typed and smelled lovely.

“Dear Ticket-boy
We have never directly met. I do not know your name and you do not know mine. But, every time I come to this theater, you are there, welcoming me with gentleness and a warm smile. In one meeting, I instantly forgot my sad past and lost myself in your eyes. Perhaps, this is foolish, but I must confess this. If you wish to respond me, leave a note in the empty knook on the east corner of the theater.
Love, your secret admirer.”
Oogami read the letter twice before putting it down. “This person....is someone who comes to the theater often. I must have met this person several times and never knew it. Who could it be?”

He decided to respond. So, he took out some paper and wrote his letter. On his night watch, he went out and put it in the place that was mentioned in the letter.

He had wrote: Who are you?

* * *
Two days later, Oogami had already forgotten the secret admirer and was more concerned about deciding on one girl. He chose to analyze the facts and estimate who he liked the most.

“Let’s see....” he uttered, sitting in the back of the theater during a rehearsal.

“What about Iris or Reni?” Kayama was with him, trying to be of some help.

“Too young for me. Although they act much older most of the time, I could get in trouble with the law or be labeled a hentai.”

“Right. How about Kohran?”

“She’s a lot of fun, but...she has a unpleasant habit of exploding things and going a bit over board. I don’t know, I think for my health’s sake I shouldn’t choose her.”

“Orihime?”

“Don’t ask.” Oogami muttered.

“Okay. What about Sumire?”

“Uh, she’s got the features, but her immodest character is a bit too much for me.”

“Yes, she is a fiesty girl. I don’t think you could handle her either.” Kayama sighed, then snapped his fingers, “Ah! How about Sakura? Not too young, not too scary?”

“Sakura-kun....she’s great and everything, but....”

“But?”

Oogami rubbed the back of his neck. “She’s a bit too naive and silly sometimes. I mean, she doesn’t ‘do it’ for me.”

“I see, well there’s still Kanna and Maria. Those two are full-grown women.”

“Uh, Kanna and I get along, but the way we carry on isn’t romantic. As for Maria, she’s very mature and serious and can also have a good time, too....”

Kayama lifted an eye brow. “But there’s something, right?”

Oogami sighed, “She doesn’t ‘do it’ for me, either.”

“Well, then you have to find someone who ‘does it’ for you or else....!”

“I know, I know! I’m going to end up like Yoneda!”

“OOGAMI!” yelled an angry voice.

Yoneda was right behind them. He was actually sober, but looked insanely furious. Sweat beads trickled down Oogami’s face as the old man grabbed him by the collar.

“I don’t appreciate you talking about my ‘daughters’ like objects of desire nor do I like being used as your example of what will happen when you grow old and alone!

“H-hai! I’m sorry!”

“It’s okay. You better go do some work in the business office again. Man, I need a drink....”

On the way to the business office, Oogami asked, “Kayama, how did you decide? How did you know?”

“Well, I felt in my heart that this person is the person I wanted to be with...that’s all. I didn’t see it at first, of course. One day, it just happened....I realized my feelings. And she had the same feelings, too. Now, I know this love is for sure.”

“Man...how in the world am I suppose to figure this out? I’m hopeless....”

“Don’t give, Oogami! Hang in there!”

Oogami twitched. “Eh? That’s what Kaede-san always says.”

“R-Really? Well, I gotta go! A-adios, Oogami!”

“Sure....Weirdo...”

* * *

When the girls weren’t looking, he opened the letter and read it to himself:

Dear Ticket-boy,
I cannot tell you my identity just yet. All I can say is that I am watching you from afar and cannot stop thinking about you. You are always on my mind. The laugh I heard from you and the kindness you showed...it’s a reoccurring image shining on all my bad memories. Thank you for being who you are. I will see you again at the next performance.
Love, your secret admirer.
‘Who in the world....?’ Oogami thought.
