Hi
Even though no one has posted in a while I'm going to say, Hi. From my user name you can guess that I'm just starting to write. Right now I keep busy on my parents farm, speaking of...time to go milk the cows.
So, Hi and bye all!

Re: Hi
tryingtowrite,
This board is here because we just hate to let a nice board design go away and James and I keep hoping others will join so we can keep it going.
So feel free to post, it might take me a day or two to answer but I will answer .
Right now I am working on a special project for a friend of mine... what do you do on your folks farm?

Re: Hi
Well...twice a day we hand-milk three cows and feed the sheep. Right now we also put out hay everyday. (I say we because Mom, one of my sisters and me do chores together.)
Stuff we are starting to do now that it's summer: Shearing sheep, putting in fences, and working in the garden.
I guess I could have just said, anything that needs doing around the farm I help do it.

Re: Hi
My wife and I moved to the country a few years back but this is the first year we have actually tried to do anything. This year my wife has started two small gardens and I am trying to clear out the little creek we have and make sure there are no snakes or anything. There is one crook in the creek that collects enough water that we might be able to do some swimming in it ...

Re: Hi
It must be hard to farm that close to a swamp (unless you are growing rice )...

Re: Hi
Hi again,
I bet you have a bunch of and in the swamp . When my wife and I were going through Louisiana we both tried frog legs for the first time and I was really surprised because they were really good tasting .

Re: Hi
I don't think I have seen any turtles. Lots of frogs though. I don't think I could ever eat a frog leg! There are also ducks and geese nesting in the swamp. Our dogs chase the geese when they land in our field. Yet the geese keep coming back...guess they like it here.
Gotten any work done on your creek? Is it hot where you are? It's hot, at times, here already. Here is Sask.

Re: Hi
O yes, in this part of Texas we are already playing with the 100 degree days and 40-80% humidity which makes outdoor work a real pain .
I have some neighbors helping me clear the creek, so far we have about 1,200 feet cleared out and looks like we will be building a dam/bridge over it so we can make sure the water in the crook part is deep enough that we can play in it
