Wake up!

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

I don't know much but I do know that for a long time I didn't do much of anything for Jesus. I just went along minding my own business till I read this verse and it just seemed like God was saying Wake Up! just like my mom and dad did when I was a kid.

Now I may be groggy in the head but I am trying emoticon

Hi James,

Following your lead here and making sure everyone gets a hug at least when they post (you're teaching me something here emoticon).

I know I am nearer to heaven today than I was yesterday. To me at least it looks like Paul is telling us to start doing what God wants us to do instead of just floating along doing nothing. This earthly life doesn't last forever so we need to look at see what we can do for everyone we meet. It isn't easy but God will make a way if we let him.

Every time I see that verse it whacks me right in the behind.

Re: Wake up!

I've really been in conviction over this and this past Sunday our class lesson was titled "Determine to Mature". I was a believer for many years but like you, James, I stayed only on the fringes, not participating and going to church only sporatically. I often felt like I was on the outside looking in. Then I was saved in October 2000! It was awesome, but though I've grown a lot and the Lord has done tremendous things in my life, I go to Church faithfully and am active in different things, I share God's love with my patients and families when the opportunity arises, but, I know I haven't matured as I know I should. I want a closer relationship with Jesus. I know God has a plan for me and I want to know more. I want to live a life that is pleasing to Him. I know I'm sort of rattling on now. I sound more like a teenager than a 45 year old so I'll stop now but any input is welcome.
