Pray for this Stranger
This is from a depression web site. 30 people answered his inquiry into our beliefs about suicide. This is his last post. It looks like he's heard some truth in his life but still does not believe. My heart grieves for him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for the thoughtful replies all. I do appreciate it.
I wish, like some of you, I could turn to my faith or god and say 'hell is worse than this', or that he will take care of me, or whatever - but frankly, I haven't had faith for a long time.
I guess I can't conceive of a god that created a world where an insane gunman can gun down school children because he is upset with himself for his pedophallic impulses. I find it difficult to conjure the illusion of a loving, caring god when all you need do is turn on the nightly news to be greeted by some new horror on a daily basis.
I know people say that I just don't know god's full plan, or things like that. But honestly, if that's all part of some grand 'plan' it makes me even more depressed.
I know some will say that all that stuff isn't god's doing, because people have free will and it hurts him to see us doing self destructive things as much as it hurts us to do them. But the thought of an omnipotent being watching all of this and sitting back and doing nothing drastic to stop it, isn't exactly a comforting thought either.
To those that have faith, I envy your conviction, to be able to stand so firm to your beliefs even in the face of seemingly overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
So, if there is a god, or gods, or some spiritual guilding force, or whatever you believe in, I simply can't see any evidence of that (even indirectly), and therefore I can't blindly pledge loyalty to her, or him, or it. If that is a lack of faith, then so be it - and, unfortunately, I don't think it's something I can ever find in a world like this.

Father God, I ask that you would reveal yourself as real th this man. Send the workers into his path who have Your answers. Send him a little hope to live through today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Re: Pray for this Stranger
Definately sounds like someone who needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I will pray for him.

Re: Pray for this Stranger
Dear Father,
Please help this man to trust in you and your promises for us instead of looking at the world as it is today. Show him mercy dear Father and grant him your grace and peace in his life. Father we ask this with the understanding that he is your child but if our understanding is wrong then please dear Father send to him someone who can show him your son, our savior, Jesus for it is in his name we pray,
AMEN.

Re: Pray for this Stranger
Just a clarification. This person is clinically depressed, not responding to treatment and seriously considering suicide. Perhaps he is secretly afraid of going to hell which is why he asked for opinions.

Oh my...he covers every argument doesn't he? I will be praying for him. Both for his salvation, and also that he will not end his life (here and for eternity)
