I Want to Pray

Dear God in heaven,

Please show me how to pray, I think I know how but something must be wrong because I have such a hard time talking with you. I don't know how you put up with me God, I try my best but I have to pray with my eyes open or I go to sleep. Teach me how to pray like Jesus did so I can fellowship with you for hours instead of minutes. I want to pray, please show me how. In Jesus name, AMEN

James, I'm touched and humbled by your prayer. It literally brought tears to my eyes, because your words are very much like those in my heart. Somehow, It never occurred to me to pray and ask the Lord to teach me how, though I often felt the need. Thank you so much....

Thank you for such a honest start and honest responses to this prayer. Help us God to be honest with you when we pray. It is so hard God to stay honest with you and our thoughts, especially in public when people expect great words of wisdom and poetry to come from us. Help us God to learn how to pray rightly.
