October Entry 2
Praying for Others
by: Jondra
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elisha watched thoughtfully as the axe bit deeply into the wood with every rhythmic swing of the young man's axe. The boy was one of the sons of the Prophets, a special group of men that were devoted and faithful to the Lord. The community was growing and the students had requested permission to build new quarters. They humbly requested Elisha's presence...most gratifying for him as the Lord's new Messenger. They were chopping the wood themselves. Not for them the greed for material wealth that had been Gehazi's downfall.
His pleasant reverie was interrupted as something whizzed over his head so closely that he had to dive face first onto the ground. He heard someone cry out, “Oh No! That's a borrowed axe head!”
Nose to the ground and flat on his face was not an unusual position for Elisha to be in when he spoke to The Lord, Um...Lord?
Yes, Elisha
I know it's just an axe-head, but he's an honorable man. Could You help?
You and the boy care about the axe head, Elisha, therefore I care about the axe head. Let us help him and establish again that you are my chosen messenger.
Elisha watched the young man's face light up with awe and joy as the axe head reappeared attached to the branch Elisha had instructed him throw into the Jordan. It wasn't manna from Heaven or the parting of the Red Sea, but it was a great kindness from a loving God.

Re: October Entry 2
Well the first story looked at the boys prayer and grief while this one looked at Elisha's relationship with God. I like this because it shows us how God works through others in our walk with him.

Re: October Entry 2
How sweet! I didn't expect a prize since there were only two entries. I have just the place to put it.
A little Serendipity from God.
God is good all the time. All the time God is good. (PS: Good is not always easy.)
