Disconnect Rule

League admins and league I'm recommending we formalize some rules or procedures when EA Server disconnects. This is not a complaint, but a suggestion to hopefully clear all confusion moving forward.

What we did for Abottazz (when he solely disconnected) was the right thing in Race A but was different than the process in the Bud Shootout.

A rule needs to be discussed, decided, and formalized to adderess what do we do if one driver disconnects unexpectedly and the rest of field remains in the race. I think its clear, if two or more racers unexpectedly disconnect in a race that would be evidence of EA Server issue, but if only one disconnects, do we stop??

There also needs to be a clear restart procedure after a disconnect. I'm ok with realigining on the back stretch but that is going to get more difficult to accomplish on short tracks.

Its unfortunate that we have to discuss and agree on this but we all know, the EA Server issues will probably NOT get any better in the short term. Look forward to the discussions and agreement on this topic.

Re: Disconnect Rule

Well...we had 1 disconnect and 1 that was late for the race....of course we didn't stop the race....but when we all lost connection...we invited everyone back...including the late racer...who was given credit for the laps he completed (Vexing).

not sure we can establish a set rule...being imaginative...I treated the lst racer as a car trouble issue...and allowing the car back in ...of course minus the laps missed..was like the car being repaired and ready to get back on the track. But this could only work if the racer that lost connection is willing to wait. As well...don't the real officials (real Nascar) give clearance on a case by case scenerio when allowing racers back in? Considering track and driver safety?

On our second disconnect..Ultimate was not available so
obviously he was done for the night.

Any suggestions on how we can set a standard rule is appreciated...until then...we have to use our best judgement...

Now..if needed...I can set a rule but would rather hear from all first.

I think if you take a case by case basis approach your setting the league up for inconsistency and a lot of frustration.

I'm ok with anything as long as its formal and consistent thru out the whole league. Inconsistency leads to chaos which will lead to NO fun.

I"m not taking sides as I respect the admin rulings but if we all stopped the race and let Abottazz back in then why not invite iJeremy back in? Once again there may of been other factors involved with the iJeremy decision and that's fine. My point is a formal rule will avoid the confusion and frustration currently being discussed.

mWills by you letting Vexing back in was inconsistent with what Buster and TB Decided; thus affecting the outcome of the overall standings. I don't underestimate what the admins are having to deal with; however, with rules and consistent application of those rules, it will support the main objective, Good Racing and FUN!

Re: Disconnect Rule

well...doesn't it go again...back to official judgement as to the safety of the other drivers...If the Track A admins discussed and agreed that not letting jeremi back was for the best of all racers..that to me is consistant.... now stopping the race to let Abbottaz back most definately affected the race!! If he was the only one that lost connection..as bad as we feel about it...stopping the race..which I'm glad you did...opened a seperate can of worms. so again...it goes back to individual and "on the spot" judgement scenerios. We have to be sooo flexible here. If we make a set rule...then it will have to apply to everyone...including the best.. I think there will be more frustration if you are leading the race and doing very well...then you DC...and because of a set rule...you out.

I've spoken with all admins to be sure all understand that I want all Nuffers racing whenever possible..and that we bend over backwards to insure that EA servers don't instigate turmoil. All admins have agreed and moving forward...we will do everything possible to make sure all that take the time out of their schedule to be a Nuffer...race.

Re: Disconnect Rule

I joined this league to have some fun, but more importantly to compete fairly with what I feel like are incredible online racers. As I and many have stated in other posts, the admins are doing an incredible job and deserve much respect. As with life, its not always going to be fair, but if there is a baseline of rules and decisions it helps set expectations to mitigate frustration.

Thanks mwils for your guidance and response. Even though I respectfully disagree with the decision, I will accept with a smile and look forward to the upcoming races. Props, and mad respect, NUFF SAID!! LOL

p.s. I should get some points for using words like mitigate in an online post about racing ... lol.. kidding of course

The reason we let him back in was it was under caution. How does someone blow and engine or anything else under caution.

In situations like this haveing two diffrent tracks to run on, there will be diffrent decision makeing. One reason there are no Set rules on these issues, is because we have never had to deal with them. As issues arise we will be instating new rules to cover these issues. Rest asured we do want everything to be equal for everyone. We try our best, and when it comes down to it two minds are better then one.

We invite everyone to comment on these issues, to help us decide what is best for NRL and Its members.
