Re: Compassionate nurses?
I do wonder if any of the people who decide on these 'wonderful' ideas have the slightest insight into a patient's journey through the NHS, from this it would appear not.
Focusing on one professional group is pointless, yes it's important to have a compassionate nurse, but equally importnat to have polite, caring allied health professionals e,g physios OT's and radiographers.
Then there is the medical profession, generally lacking good communicaytion skills and still very much paternalistic.
This smacks again of tinkering with the engine when what is really needed is a bloody huge service.

Re: Compassionate nurses?
I'm not sure how this will be quantified.
Compassion is subjective. What may seem harsh maybe in the patients best interests. i.e. motivating, encouraging people to be self caring when necessary. Some people and their relatives have a different view to what should happen in hospitals, than what care is provided.
It is also open to abuse. I personally have had complaints put in about me in the past, which amount to nasty personal attacks due to refusing outrageous requests.
Will this have sufficient checks and balances, or is it just another PR stunt?

Re: Compassionate nurses?
i agree with kitty as i too have had complaints against me despite the ludicrous expctations of visitors etc...fortunately sense prevaled on the part of those dealing with comkplaint . Im sorry but i despair of the sense of these people behind desks who come up with wayout suggestions to jutify their own existance. I declined to read the article in full....
