With the draft nearing, I thought it was a good idea to make this thread to talk about the draft and the 49ers latest moves. emoticon

sfgf1285,

Good idea. Bye the way, what do you think of the Allen signing if it is indeed finalized. According to reports he no longer has the speed and ability to pull and lead the sweep like he use too. However he could be a valuable resource in pass and run blocking from the RG position. I tend to like it as it also makes Bass available to back up at the center position.

I think its a good 1 year signing.

He's going to be another coach on the field on offense and he'll teach the young guys, mainly the guards, along the way.

I like Baas at Center, we still don't know about Newberry and how his knees are. If Newberry can't go, then Baas should be starting at C.

Eric Piper here.

I think regardless of who we draft, it'll be big physical players. That's how Scott Mcglouhan wants to build tis team. emoticon

Yeah, well CRAP ain't gonna happen to the 9ers unless they realize they made a $50M mistake by taking Alex Smith...what a freakin' waste of space...even Drukenmiller had a better rookie season!...but hey, Like Coach Madden says, he looks good when he throwin' in his practice shorts with nobody rushin' him

I would never take a QB with the 1st pick....
QB's are unlike any other position.
Unmeasurable tools play a role in the success of a QB more than any other position.
and QB Gold is found in late rounds or undrafted more than any other position....

Now you got a TON of $$$ committed to someone who may have ZERO value...

Lawson has been signed, I need to find the link though.

49ers trade 3rd string QB Cody Pickett to the Texans for a conditional draft pick.

Didn't think a 3rd stringer would be worth a pick, so good trade. And I've heard that Palmer has looked better, if that means anything.

Yahoo! link to the Pickett trade:

EDIT: LAWSON LINK FOUND
