Don't do it, man. You'll die like Poe, feverish and raving mad on the streets of Baltimore.

Only maybe not Baltimore.

You can get some information here:

http://www.wormwoodsociety.org/

and here:

http://www.drinkupny.com/category_s/86.htm

Not sure why you want to drink that god awful stuff, but knock yourself out. Just don't become the hipster walking around the party with an absinthe spoon on a chain . . .

Yeah, all those things, responsibility, pressure. It's a bit stressful. I try and come to terms with it by not thinking about it.

If zac and bong aren't on board, you might want to think twice. If a certain JoPa fan chimes in with a negative vote, you can put me down as "terrified."

I don't know if I want to or not my friends having a going away party in a couple weeks and he has always told me he wanted to drink it.

Thanks for all the advice/info, more is welcome. I'm thinking FSS has to have an opinion on this.

Druk, my objection rests solely on the awful taste, and I'd guess zac was firing for effect with the Poe reference regarding lunacy. I tend to think absinthe got a bad rap for social reasons, and is fine if that's your bag. Do a little reading and see how it strikes you. It 's not cheap though, and while I'd rather put those type of dollars into a nice bottle of wine, that is no reason not to send your friend off with a surprise.

Mandrake & I had some at Spring Training last March. I think Zito pitched that day, so you can understand why.

Hopefully the referenced "going away" party will be only in the figurative sense. Heed the advice of some of the more knowledgable
contributors here.
