Re: …
I was born into a Giants household. Turns out most of them are fairweather, but, being the black sheep I'm with the Giants through it all.
Other teams-
49'ers
Pistons- no ties to Detroit. Jumped on the late 80's team bandwagon

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
What's up guys???
I just found this board. I didn't know that you were hanging out without me.
My mom brought me to my first game in 92 or 93 against the Reds. My mom is the best Giants fan ever. She grew up in the City, and her first game was the day Mays got number 3,000. hahaha, you guys post on two boards that is amazing.

Been a Giants fan since 1969. A friends grandparents were season ticket holders they took both of us to a game. It has been a GIANT('s) love affair ever since. Willy McCovey has always been my favorite player and still is to this day. Since then I have been to many games at The Stick and Pac Bell or what ever you want to call it today. I still call it At&T for those that want to know. Not a fair weather fan and never will. Same thing happened with the same grandparents with The Niners.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
The Giants moved in '58 and living in Norcal at the time it fell in place. Attened first game in '62 as our Little League made the trip to the Stick. Willie Mac all the way, but I have respect for many more. Went to a Dodger game in '65, sold out but a friend of my fathers knew Lefty O'Doul who was holding two tickets for us. I was in awe to meet the man.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
My next door neighbor in SF was Horace Stoneham. When I was a toddler, he gave me a baseball signed by the entire Giants team which included Mays, McCovey, Marichal, Perry and Cepeda. I still have the ball.
My parents split in 1971 and we moved out of SF in 74. Three years late my mom remarried, and my stepfather who was a huge Giants and Niners fan took me to every opening day. I still go with him to opening day every year and have only missed one opener from 1977 - present. It was in 1994, when my HF of a boss at the time, wouldn't give me the time off to go to the game, despite knowing about my legacy with opening days. It still pi$$e$ me off to this day.

your boss is/was an ass for doing that. he has a dad. maybe he's a dodger fan? but anyway, welcome here and hope you have input on anything and everything.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
It happened during the 1989 WS. Don't ask me why or how, but that's when something clicked and I became a diehard Giants fan.
There's no logical explanation for it other than perhaps my brother telling me that they were the underdogs.
