No ill feeling from my part, I can assure you.
The 'nicknames' have been well established for many years within Ceroc HQ for James and Mike, which I know they both see the humour.
Thanks for the comments which are constructive and useful particularly about arguments with mirrors in empty rooms.
Perhaps there is nothing to worry about at all in that case.

There is a noticeable change in the atmosphere of late to one of acceptance and enthusiasm from the MJ scene or WCS.
Certainly the interest and passion for it was in abundance at the last Southport.

Certainly many now appear to see this as I did at the beginning as useful addition to the talents to increase my dance skills overall for MJ, rather than move away from MJ.
However as time moved on personally perspective changed and I realised quite recently that I dance virtually all WCS and little MJ. Why has this come about?
Challenge
Diversity
Increase in understanding of core skills
Different music
Quality of the teaching of WCS is so high

At Southport a huge thank you must be to Robert Cordoba & Deborah Sezeky for their approach to the teaching, their willingness to stay up all night dancing and socialising (Deborah's particular fondness for the drop of the rouge vino noted).

They are both huge characters that enrich the event and the image of WCS and are epitomies of ambassadors for the sport.
They have an ability to debunk the WCS myth about being to technical and make it easy for the footwork shy.
My guess is they are leaving that for a lttle later and the privates.

So I think we can move on

Hmm I think the ill-feeling still exists, esp amongst c e r o c in midlands and further south imo. Franchise owners etc.

Can you see Mike Ell. being as accepting of anyone or anything other than c e r o c??

Hi

Am new to this forum, found it by accident when searching for WCS beginner lessons in Kent.

Yes I went to Southborough for the first time (making a total of 12 dance weekenders) in September and was disappointed after having read so much hype about how good it was on a certain northern forum. There was a lot of WCS music played in the blues area and I was way out of my depth - kept having to tell the men "I don't WCS" but I did enjoy watching it and would like to give it a go. So many were moaning about the amount of WCS music played yet there were two other rooms to dance in.

We are off to Franco's Camber in a few weeks time and luckily there is one beginner lesson - but have noted from his event schedule that there is to be a fair amount of WCS - hence my reason to learn. Mentioned my desire to a big contributor to the northern forum and got slated for wanting to have a go! Based on this I guess some people are just frightened of change or just bloody minded to anything new.

So if anyone knows of a north west Kent/south London WCS place for beginners, please post the details.
