Ok been asked very nicely to maybe start a little 'techie' talk on connection. One for the purests, not according to the experts. So pin back your lugholes and get the laughing gear into action.

Where do we start, the humble Sugarpush epitimises every single element. Its so fundamentl to the concepts.
Why? lets break it down on the next post as this will time out. Sorry about dreadful typing by the way...

man steps back Down the slot. lets ask what makes the woman follow?
The hand & grip is the only physical connection we have at this point. make it a good one. The finger contact for the guy under the 3rd finger, ladies wrapped over in a cup as many fingers as possible. Please please please none of the jive flat finger projected forward owners club need apply to wcs.

The man goes back weight centred in sternum with frame (do we need a topic on this??) let me know..
Here comes the 1 beat, in the music, chaps be ready to connect......the lady is listening for the beat and moves her weight back on the & before the one onto her left foot releasing her right. She comes forward here she is an tad behind the beat accelerating down the slot headlighting, not turned out, with chest angled as she has framed.
At this point of acceleration there is negligible connection, she is free as a bird... catch the next post for episode 2 called '&2'

So here we are at 2, the lady is traversing passed you nicely, negligible connection here. The 'wrong' thing here is to be arm leading through so drawing the lady down the slot.
Ladies you should have as light a connectio as possible, you have control of your speed, direction and destiny here and now..

Chaps we should have been offering the LH by now. Same distance etc as the H. The compression starts with zero and the womans mass travels forward. Ladies again you remain in control but use his softening elbows as springs to assist you stop for you 3 & 4. The analagy is to dance through the man, he will send you back...

Hey you know your stuff- do you teach by any chance? Good tips in there, connection is e v e r y t h i n g.

I like the analagy of dancing through the man, that's a good way of thinking about it. I've been told I lead too much emoticon but that's tosh, imho. I think if I do, and note the 'if', its not all the time, usually just in a class where men aren't getting it, so I help them out.

3 and 4



I find on 3 and 4 men 'absorb' me completely differently, if you know what I mean. It's inconsistent, the distance I am from him can be anything from dead close to miles away. Maybe men travel back or don't resist enough? Are you guys meant to be coming forward to the 3 &4?

Iguess the 3& 4 is different for us all & not want to over use the term, its the core of the connection. the variables mean there's no right and no wrong, just what suits & before anyone gets upset this is both lead and follow, (lead going backwards)

Looks like we have some physics here gang and if my O level serves me true
F = m x a where force = mass times acceleration.

So the fundamentals come to the fore again offer and even frame shoulders square on 'entry' sensitive, read your partners feel, is it soft is it solid, we going quick here or playing for time with the music... more???
Send away remember the speed can help musical interpretation, speed for effect and slow bleeds.

Three different ways have been taught just in London.

1. Man takes 2 small steps back on '1' and '2'. The first two steps of the triple on '3 and' are done in place. Man steps forward on '4'.

2. Man takes 2 small steps back on '1' and '2'. All 3 steps of the triple are done moving forward

3. Man steps back on 1. Step 2 is together. Step 3 is back. Step 'and' is somewhere between together and in place, and step 4 is forward.
