Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
Chaps travelling back on 3 & returning th lady to the place she came on 4 & 5 etc..
Ok, here we are then what happened during the magic moments of ecstasy...??
ladies did you commit forwrd on the 3 &, sinking into the arms of the leads, not breaking the frame, but allowing the muscles to act like a spring.
leads not allowing the elbws to travel toooooo far back past torso, taking the follows mass, equalising, sending her back, accelerating at the pace to synchronise with the music.
Lead do you make sure the tension in the arms is even so the follow is not skiff unless this has purpose.
Feel your frame ensure you are connecting internally, then worry about the external one there is little one can do without that centred feeling.

Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
A few pointers on this, try to feel what is going on with yourself first. Take some time out in the this to note if you are breaking frame, wrists collapsing, leads try to ensure the spring is not like hitting a brick wall, and fllows let it go commit to the lead, do not worry they will send you back. Take care of your head it is the most single heavy part of the body do not let it rock forward and disturb the balance.

Three different ways have been taught just in London.
1. Man takes 2 small steps back on '1' and '2'. The first two steps of the triple on '3 and' are done in place. Man steps forward on '4'.
2. Man takes 2 small steps back on '1' and '2'. All 3 steps of the triple are done moving forward
3. Man steps back on 1. Step 2 is together. Step 3 is back. Step 'and' is somewhere between together and in place, and step 4 is forward.
Never heard of no. 2 method above, who teaches it that way out of interest?
Have a point as well. I like this kinda stuff

That's done a lot.
Is there a 'right' way (officially speaking). Is one perhaps 'old school' and the other nu? Whatcha prefer?

Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
As to Nu wave & ol'Skool, not sure, I think the essentials are the frame has become upright and more centred, giving rise to the body lead signals, i.e. lead my body and shoulders are turning ...follows headlight please, turn 'nipple to nipple'. (hmmm you can tell i been playing with industrial steel pipework fittings way to long...).
So the 'weight' in the connection thus reduced as the lean disappeared. This gave rise to independance of expression in those quiet moments of minimal connection.
Hope this fills the gap a bit.

Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
It can be taught where the man comes fwd on the 1st triple, and 'pushing'/guiding the lady fwd as he travels. This way there's movement on '3 & 4' by both, rather than static on '3 &' then both moving on 4. Not sure how the latter evolved from a change in stance?

Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
When did the (slight) lean back disappear? I missed that bit- I thought there was a bit of a counter balance pulling away very very slighty in order to connect properly?

Re: C o n n e c tion - lets get together
I've been taught not so much of a lean back, but pulling out slightly with your upper body until your arms connect properly.
You are still upright, keeping bum in and legs straight where possible.
