 WCS All Stars - Paris Workshop 2008
Hello all,
And first, sorry for my english rought translation !
I announce you an event which could interest you, and all the WCS fans ... it is about a festival of west coast swing in Paris, on April 18-19th and 20th, with exceptional guests :
- John LINDO
- Mary Ann NUNEZ
- Ben MORRIS and Melina RAMIREZ
- Olivier RIO and Amandine
This festival will include:
- 4 levels : beginning (already some lessons all the same!), Intermediate, advanced and professional.
- Thematic studios : by level, and outbuildings at every level.
- 2 evening party, and for your biggest pleasure, exceptional shows Saturday evening with in addition some small surprises which we reserve you ..........but shut! It is another surprise!!
We garantee a minimum of 11 hour by level!
The site of the event is now on-line, you will find all the information there concerning " Paris Workshop 2008 " and you can already join directly by downloading the form of registration.
we hope that you will be interest by this big event, which have no relationship with the festival WCSDF :-)

This is the event attended at the beginning of 2007 by about 15 of us, sadly it had little organsiation & lacked any professionalism.
We Brits' made quit a lot of vocal complaints there, which were partially listened too,(when the organisers were not too busy smoking in the office) but the feeling was it was too late to rectify any lack of organisation.
This is not meant to put anyone off going but do not have high expectations.
In summary:
The venue is under resourced, i.e it lacks facilities to cater for anything with more than about 100 dancers in workshops.
The 'ranking' system did not work for the workshops. It wasted the first morning trying to organise it.
There was an obsession with checking the wristbands interupting workshops for this purpose and ejecting interlopers.
Negligible catering at the venue.
The toilets were not cleaned and serviced regularly.
The was no where to secure bags and coats.
The social dances were unconnected with the event and not suitable for WCS.
There was insufficent room to dance socially in the evening events regardless.
The list goes on. They must of had 250-300 dancers in the venue.
Sadly, our comments to the organisers and feedback were never acknowledged. I realise this was the first time they had done such an event. Perhaps a few lessons were learnt.
Personally I would never return to this event.

Good evening Corporal Whip, good evening all,
I agree with you, the event of January, 2007 was a disaster at the level organization. I also know what can be your disappointment! 
All what you say is true, and you were even kind by forgetting some small defects!
I simply wish to say you that it is in no way about the same event, or especially not the same organizers!
I insist, it is in no way the same thing here!
The guests are not moreover the same, the number of students is voluntarily limited , and I personally took into account all the negative reactions further to the event of January.
The organization in summer implementation to satisfy all your remarks, and to set up some new ideas, as cloakrooms during the day, possibility of eating on the spot, the abolition of the evaluation system, the importance given to the reception of students and has the consideration of the remarks of the dancers .... etc.
I know that you were very disappointed, but i guaranteed you that you will not be him this time!
To prove you my willingness, and to mean you that I absolutely wish to reconquer the heart of the English, I am ready has to make you a very interesting offer if you are a group numerous enough:
- 10 persons : 115 Euro for each, and if you are 20 persons 100 euro for each!
A single condition: be a group about balanced dancers / dancers 
I hope that you will take advantage of this occasion to return towards Paris, and as well on to take lessons with these exceptional professors!

Thankyou very much for the kind response. Sorry if it seemed hard, but expectations for that weekend were high and you can see memories are long.
Personally I really wish you well, and hope the lessons learnt serve you well for future success.

Thank you for your good hopes of success.
I clarify that so that this event is really a success, I need you!
Indeed, the success of this Festival also has to be for the socail level, that is to gather the persons of various horizons to share an enriching experience.
I hope that it will be the case.

I try to have good deal with hotel and restaurants close to the place of the event.
