Books: Frank Peretti

Mae Govannen. Tis I Faith. I know Ive been uh away from this board for a while..Well a long while..Ive been really busy with school and stuff..*sighs...But lately Ive managed to read some books that were not textbooks yay! One of the authors Ive rediscovered is Frank Peretti. He wrote books like This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness..I havent read those two, but I have read his other books. The books I highly recommend are: The Oath, and The Visitation. He has written more, but I havent read thos yet lol...

The Oath- is about a small town that made an oath a long time ago and the consequences of it.

The Visitation: Is about a small town in the mid-west someplace that expierences all this supernatural stuff..People claim to see angels, see Jesus, crusafixes weep and the tears heal people, and then two mysterious people show up, and well more wierd things of the non supernatural and supernatural occur.

If youre into supernatural thrillers than those books are perfect..I couldnt put either of them down..

HI YA SWEETPEA! emoticon
Sorry you life has been so crazy....I guess you are like the College age daughter who barely gets home to do her laundry! emoticon
Those books sound fabulous....but I barely get to read anymore...what with travel and this site and moderating the Runboard Directory....I only crack open only cookbooks! emoticon
But thank you for adding that here, we are bound to have some who will love those!
Come by when you can.....you are always welcome! emoticon emoticon

I've been to weddings where they wanted the gift/donations given to charities...I think those are great for people who have most stuff already.

Glad you had a good time...

emoticon I was just teasing you! I figured she wore something! emoticon

YOU got through the Silmarillion??? DANG! emoticon Was it your first try? If so, my hat is off to you!
I have started it 2 times....and have yet to get through it! emoticon
First time I made it to THE VALAQUENTA, second time to THE FALL OF NUMENOR...
I keep swearing that some winter IF I ever get caught up online, I WILL read it....but it seems I am never caught up. And at night...when Hubby is off work, for some reason it bugs him to see me reading....cause he continuously BUGS ME! emoticon
And that BOOK needs some serious concentration!

LOL! He wasnt soo much boring, as a complete jerk...Not really likable...In the movie you feel bad when he dies...In the book youre like oh well...The only thing about the movies was that they didnt show the Twin sons of Elrond or the Rangers with Halabrad...which wouldve been nice lol..hehehehehe Im on to the Two Towers now...Not soo bad...still long but not liek the Fellowship...

Re: Books: Frank Peretti

Oh yeah...But I wouldve watched it anyway lol...7hrs hehehehehehe...Im half way through the Two Towers. Its really good, minus the random singing lol...Of course I loved the book version of Helms Deep rather than Pjs ...cause seriously Haldir WAS SOO NOT THERE!! THERE WERE NO ELVES AT HELM DEEP!!~ there I said it...Also Faramir in the book was less wah wah then in the movie, although I lvoed them both lol....In book unlike the movie the Shards of Narsil were reforged in the Fellowship...in the moive it wasnt until the Return of the King...also the pendant thingy from Arwen wasnt given till Lothorlorien by Galadriel...Book Frodo was less well angsty than the movie...But it wasnt awful....Book Aragorn is much more agressive less I dont want to be king, than movie Aragorn...He basically told Eomer that he was Isildurs heir and all that...And Aragorn in the book didnt fall off the cliff...although i didnt liek the passing of Theordred the kings son, it was like oh well hes dead Im sad...now whats this about Sauron? The delievrence of Theoden in the book was soo anti-climactic...it was like he was free and thats it..In the book he doesnt want to kill Grima, he offers him a way out..but of course Grima being the bastard he is desides to go with Saurman who didnt not die or get shot in Insengard...he escapes and goes off creating havoc....I wouldve prefred that better than nice quick and easy kill him off in the two towers which soo did not happen in the books...Other than that of course I enjoy both of them....Although it would be cool to mesh both PJ version and the book version....or do the books straight, not the cartoon version from teh 80's or 70s...lol

OH LORDY.......NOT the cartoon version! emoticon

I have to say, I agree with you on ALL of your accounts...I loved the books...they are perhaps the only books that I'd actually get up in the middle of the night (after I knew hubby was asleep) just to see what was going to happen next! emoticon
But I do love the movies too...mainly I watch them as SEPARATE movies, apart from the books...
I just kick back and let them take me away! I love Middle Earth.... emoticon

Re: Books: Frank Peretti

I finished all three books. The Return of the king was soo anticlamtic..I mean that battle was just blah...I mean really...The movies did a much much better job of creating a scene. I mean the battle of the Pelennor fields in the book was just like bleh...Int he movie was it was awesome...The killing of the Witch King of Agmar was just like one sentence...I much prefered the movie version. I love the books, but only b/c the movies d id leave out a few things I wish they had put in..Of course the biggest oversight in history is the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen..its like oh btw he got married..Im like thats it? ugh...Again I wish they had more twin sons of elrond, and the rangers...and less Arwen..not that i didnt like here..I mean I guess PJ actually made her a character, insted of just Aragron really loved her...The sourging of the shire was utterly pointless...I nearly skipped over it and was very glad they left it out of hte movies, ca use it had nothing to do with anything... but personally the favorite books are the Simmilarrion and the hobbit...
