The Frodo Franchise
I thought maybe you Tolkein fans would enjoy this informative blog by world-reknowned film teacher Kristin Thompson. I was priviliged to meet her at a Roger Ebert Film Festival, along with her film instructor husband David Bordwell (who also has a blog devoted to the film as art). Very friendly and knowledgeable people.
Thompson is a huge fan of the Tolkein books and the Jackson films. She has a lot of behind-the-scenes knowledge of the films too, including the upcoming HOBBIT movies.

Re: The Frodo Franchise
No, I wasn't excited then because I didn't know who she or her husband were. They were very down to earth. When I got home, I looked them up and realized how important they are in the world of film learning today. If I knew all that when I met them, I probably would have been tongue-tied like I was when I met Roger Ebert at the festival.

Re: The Frodo Franchise
I'm still embarrassed at how tongue tied I was around Roger Ebert. Here's a true story:
There was a question & answer session after one of the movies at the festival. I wanted to ask a question and they gave me a mike to hold while I waited for the previous question to be answered. While I waited, I pondered if I should call him "Roger" or "Mr. Ebert."
Roger or Mr. Ebert? Roger or Mr. Ebert? Roger or Mr. Ebert? Roger or Mr. Ebert?
I ket repeating that in my mind while trying to decide. Then it was my turn to talk. Sure enough, I said, "Robert", combining the 2 names accidently. What an idiot.
