January
3. J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday: If he were still alive he would now be celebrating his 111th birthday, like Bilbo!
8. The day on which the Fellowship arrived in Hollin, once called Eregrion. Elves had once lived there long ago, as this was where theRings of Power were forged.
11. This was the night the Fellowship spent on the mountain Carad-hras, but they were driven back by the violent snow storms.
13. Orlando Bloom's 26th birthday: Orlando played Legolas Greenleaf in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogyThis was also the day when the Fellowship reached Moria's west gate, and were trapped inside after a battle with the Watcher in the Water.
15. On this day Gandalf battled with the balrog on the bridge of Khazad-dum, and fell with it into the abyss.

15 On this day the Fellowship finally left Lothlorien.
17 On this day Gwaihir the flew Gandalf the White to Lothlorien, having been returned to life after his battle with the balrog.
25 Sean Astin's 32nd birthday: Sean Astin played Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.Also the day on which Theodred son of Theoden was slain upon the Westmarches of Rohan, and also the day on which the Fellowship passed the Argonath on their voyage down the Anduin.
26 On this day the breaking of the Fellowship took place, after two months of travel together. Boromir was slain, Merry and Pippin taken captive by Uruk-hai, amd Frodo and Sam set off for Mordor alone, while Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli pursued the Uruk-hai in the hope of rescuing the hobbits.
27 On this day Eomer set out with Riders from his house to pursue the Uruk-hai, against orders.
28 On this day Eomer overtook the band of Uruk-hai and left none alive, Merry and Pippin escaped into Fangorn forest.

1 On this day Gandalf the White returned to his friends in Fangorn forest, this day was also Aragorn's birthday!!
2 On this day the Ents began to march to Isengard, this was also the day that Gandalf healed Theoden King of Wormtongue's poison.
