Queeny's Santa Fe Beans... Stove top or Crock Pot.....
Brown 1 to 2 pounds of ground beef, with half a sweet onion (or onion to taste) (drain of grease)
(if using a crock pot, add browned beef and onions to pot)
To pot or crock pot......add 4 to 5 MILD GREEN CHILIES...Our favorite is HATCH MILD GREEN CHILIES, but this can be made with Ortega brand....(diced into bit sized pieces.....no seeds)
3 or 4 cans of Bushes PINTO beans and juice
1 small can Tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
salt and pepper
Stir to combine.......cook on stove over very LOW for an hour or two....
OR cook in slow cooker......4, 6 or 8 hours depending on when you want to eat.......
If you want to make it HOTTER......add ONE Jalapeno Pepper....SEEDED (wear gloves and do not touch anything until you wash your hands)
Serve in bowl with warmed flour tortillas..... and sour cream and/or shredded cheese if desired....
