Pitched Percussion

Any of y'all play in pit or like the pitched part of percussion?? I played in pit this past football season, and I'm now in love with the marimba! It's my percussional favorite! (Oboe of course is my winds-ical favorite though!) The other pit stuff is good but, wow, the marimba is awesome!

Re: Pitched Percussion

I could never be a percussionist, but I do like the sound of timps. I have immense respect for percussionists now after having observed them in our band, and afte having got to know another percussionist. I think what made me suddenly realise how good percussion is was when we played Thunderbirds, which had an amazing two bars of percussion. It was amazing.

I posted this here because it was a pitched pecussion thread, and seeing as I said I like timps ... emoticon
