A Couple of Rules This has been edited, so the rest of the thread won't make sense
Ok, I don't want total disorder, so here are a couple of rules. Try not to break them too often, ok? 1. e=mc^2
2. EVERYTHING tastes funny after you eat peppermints.
3. Thou shalt not murder.
4. That is to say, thou shalt not murder unless absolutely necessary.
5. If people are annoying, that is a good enough reason.
6. The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other 2 sides.
7. School is largely a waste of time, unless you are in some sort of a musical ensemble.
8. Despite the poem, peas probably do not go too well with honey.
9. "The Brothers Grimm" is an appropriate name for the authors of those fairytales.
10. Thou shalt not....I need a 10th commandment....digest polymers. I mean it. You will be in real trouble if you do.
11th commandment. Do not throw heavy objects at the Head Administrator without giving her prior warning.

Re: A Couple of Rules hmmm not sure if it's blasphemy, if anything I preffer the sound of german style clarinets; which sound very different from french style, buffet or yamaha. I also preffer german bassoons, especially for high parts ( think rite of spring ) as they have a great dark timbre. French style bassoons are too light and weak up high ( though they are good in french opera ).
But, I really hate german oboes, and much preffer both french flutes and oboes. They're so very limpid and expressive.
Re: A Couple of Rules I like English oboes and clarinets. think Howarth, Hansen ...

Re: A Couple of Rules I can't tell the make of an instrument just by hearing it, but hey. There are just some makers more renowned for clarinets, some fo oboes etc.

Re: A Couple of Rules I can't tell the make by hearing it either. I just thought "that clarinet sounds good and it doesn't sound like any other clarinet I've heard" so after the concert I approached the clarinettist and asked her what make it was.
