highest notes?
hello violinists!
I was wondering; whats the highest note most of you can squeeze out of a violin?
On my viola the highest note is f"" or f7, the f two octaves above the treble clef. The violin is much higher than viola, so...?

Re: highest notes?
I can get to around 2 octaves above the open E-string. (which is a 5th above your top string)

Re: highest notes?
No, it means we can play the E above your F Not that I ever want to cos that'd be painful. But experimenting with harmonics I've played higher. Don't know how high though.

Re: highest notes?
Interestingly, while ditzing around recently I found you can produce notes above the finger board, so you can go even higher than the aformentioned note. It's sounds very thin however.

Re: highest notes?
I played for a bit,
I attempted a high Bb, the one an octave higher than the one on top of the ledger line in treble clef. I don't know if that's good or not.
He he, one thing, in a concert abuot to play and got all ready, looked at the conductor... pre-beats 3,4 and then i go to play but no sound...?
...my bow wasn't wined up... I just pretended to play the whole piece to avoid embarrassment considering I was in the front row and the audience was all staring at me. Luck I didn't hve a solo

Re: highest notes?
Heh, reminds me of the time someone tied the sleeves of my costume together and I had to go on stage in front of 800 people with my hands tied behind my back. Apparently no one noticedXD
