what kind of strings?

hello,
just wondering what kind of strings people here use. I use medium helicore at the moment. Has anyone here tried gut core strings? Is it true they sound better?

I've used Helicores. On my 5 string violins. And Thomastik Dominant "Bluegrass" strings on my 5 string violas. I have Larsens on my Cartwright viola.

I used Dominants then discovered Pirastro Tonica sets on eBay at stupidly low prices so got those. They sound so much softer and more mellow, and they even feel nicer to play! (As in, they feel softer under my fingers) They're medium tension - can't be doing with high tension because I'd snap them too easily, and can't be doing with low tension because the bow catches the strings either side.
