How to get started

If you had no experience with marital arts, and just started karate, what basics do you need to do before the katas on this site? ANy links to sites?

Is learnkarate.com a good site?

Hi Bob,

Most Karate training consist of the tri-parte of Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Your sensei will guide you on the basics of these areas of training. The intensity will increase as you progress along your training.

You may be interested to read about my view on what constitute a good Karate school HERE.

Like any sports or martial arts, Karate is best learn by practice, not by reading, watching videos or visiting websites. You may however pick up ideas or suggestions to improve your training and skills from those mediums.

All the best!
Charles.
