Is "tai gio go shodan kata" the same as "heian shodan kata"?
hello!
I attend krate classes every week and at the moment I am trying on "tai gio go shodan kata"for a grading to get my green belt. But as I just started my kata, and unfortunately my grading is very near I need to practice a lot on my own time too.But as I am not very familiar with this kata, I forget the order. I found "heian shodan kata" video in your site, and I saw it, It is very similar to "tai gio go shodan kata" but I am not sure whether it is the same or not. Can you please help me to know this and also if you have any videos regarding "tai gio go shodan kata" please provide. Thank you

Hi Golnaz,
Thanks for posting. Taikyoku Shodan kata is a simplified version of Heian Shodan. Different schools used it for different purposes, but it's basically a simple kata.
You may find a video on this kata here:

A note of advice, do not be too concerned with forms. For us in Kissaki Kai, Karate is an art of unarmed combat, not a dance style. Learn, have fun, and concentrate on 1-2 katas. Remembered Funakoshi sensei took 3 years to master the Tekki (Naihanchi) kata. More is not necessarily good in this case.
All the best for your grading!
Yours in Karate,
Charles.
