BJJ vs Hapkido and Kung Fu

Hi Guys,

If you are convinced that you cannot be taken down, or learning striking arts alone is enough, see these videos below:

BJJ vs Hapkido and BJJ vs Kung Fu videos

Enjoy!

Keep in mind that these are in situations set up optimally for the grappler. I have to question whether Royler Gracie would be quite so eager to takedown someone armed with a knife. Also, standup fighting appears to be far preferable to groundfighting as a "primary game" because of multiple attackers and weapons.

That said, if you don't know some groundfighting, you're vulnerable. Especially these days.

Well most challenge matched are from consensual opponents in an agreed format/venue. I don't see how it can favor anyone or styles. We had our share of challenges too, My BJJ coach once took out 2 pro-boxers and bodyguards with pure grappling skill. He submitted them without using any striking tools (he's a MMA fighter). And before the match, he told them that they can do anything they like. One tried to bite him when he was doing the armbar but he was "punished" for that.

The armed and multiple attackers argument has been done to death. I mean the odds will be heavily stacked against you regardless of your style if you face armed or multiple attackers. It's not a matter of whether you want to take an armed attacker down or not, sometimes you just clinch and end up on the ground. With that in mind, I rather have some grappling skill in hand.
