Sudden enlightenment as opposed to gradual
We hear this in Zen literature. To say that gradual steps to enlightenment are the only way is most likely true. But I think the problem lies in the idea, an that's all. To make clear, it's like this: what is eternal? What is it's manifestation? Do we say unmanifest? We put ourselves in phenomenonal state? You must, but then must disregard logic. Thats why we think in terms of gradual, and sudden enlightment. Their both the same. What I think is Zen masters are always trying to open their students conciousness. But it could also be meditation has lost it's "grip". Lasy students. Would that not be a good way to cause renewed concentration? One thing might be their is a great understanding, infinitely small and large, who knows can only be likened to a mute seeing a great miricle an throwing his hands wildly around, looks insane. But he has seen a miricle. Thank you Charles, I thought this might be something we could all try to understand together. I still only realize very little of Zen. Great happiness to everyone.
