Re: Rabbit hook bait
You go steady there AndyK74! It looks like you have at last managed to upgrade your tackle quite considerably!
Is that the rig you used when you took that 170lb bag of chub from the Ivel?

Yes it was. . . that stick took a hammering that day!
Different hookbait though. . . I used fried squirrel for the Chub.

Re: Rabbit hook bait
Ah, thought so. Who says tackle has to be state-of-the-art . . ?
Fried squirrel eh . .? Thats obviously where I went wrong yesterday down the Common; I only took casters, worms and maggots!
Which tackle shop did you get them through. . . . .?
How do you go about loose feeding or do you not bother?

Re: Rabbit hook bait
The squirrels I shot myself, skinned and gutted them. I then sliced the meat up into thin strips and fried them for 15 minutes or until golden brown. If you fry it quickly on a high heat it comes out quite rubbery and stays on the hook well.
I think it worked well as a hookbait due to the "nutty" aroma! Similar to many boilie flavours!
As for loose feeding. . . I didn't need to, the squirrel strips worked a treat!

Re: Rabbit hook bait
Blimey Andyk74 - you do "crow" on a bit!
Just don't go "Robin" those seeds from B&Q and stop "Hawking" on about being a gardener.
Otherwise some people might think you are being a t*t (blue, of course).

Re: Rabbit hook bait
AndyK you're right i may have spent too much time fishing with Biggus, trouble being as well, more often than not, failing to catch anything.
He does tend to 'carp on' a bit as you know .But ' eel ' stop after a while and get back on his 'perch'.
