CARP SACKS AND THE LAW - PLEASE READ!!!!!

I was just browsing through the latest edition of the EA byelaws from the link on the home page and I noticed a statement on page 12 that says:-

           © a keepsack –
           (i) not constructed of a
           soft, dark coloured, nonabrasive,
           water permeable
           fabric; or
           (ii) having dimensions of less
than 120 cm by 90 cm, if
           rectangular; or
           (iii) 1 50 cm by 30 cm by 40
cm if used with a frame
           or designed with the
           intention that a frame be
           used.

Now I was very suprised by this as I have two carp sacks, one is a Chub Giant Zip sack which is the size stated in the byelaws, however, my Fox standard carp sack is only 90cm x 75cm and is therefore illegal to use! Even though I only bought it a couple of months ago!

If anyone has a carp sack I would suggest they go and measure it to see if you can still use it!!!

I have e-mailled Fox to see what they have to say about it, but it is not just Fox, I know that Chub, Trakker and Reuben Heaton also sell carp sacks that are undersized.

Further to my previos post, I have received a reply from Fox as follows:

"Thank you for your recent e mail. After reading your e mail today I have checked the EA website. It would appear you are quite correct in what you state in your e mail and at present we are making arrangements to cease production of all Fox Carp Sacks. We have a number of contacts at the EA and we are currently making investigations to ascertain when the law was changed and why we weren’t notified of the amendment"

It is good to see that Fox have taken this statement seriously and are looking into it. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
