There is a new 3 rod rule that has been added to this years book for Willington lake from November to February. This is going to be monitored closely by the bailiffs and club to ensure there are no conflicts brought about by its introduction. If any conflict does arise from the introduction of this rule then the three rod rule will be revoked with immediate effect.
I understand your voicing of this topic, but what you have to realise, as with many things in life, it only takes a few irresponsible/inconsiderate people to ruin it for the majority. Willington is not fished as heavily as the Airman and therefore there is less likely to be conflict as a result of using three rods.
This subject has been brought up several times in the past both to the Committee and also on this forum, and although some people may not believe it, it has been given due consideration by the powers that be. After careful deliberation it has been decided to keep the rules as are currently in force with regards to three rods at the Airman, probably for the reasons I have suggested above.
I would suggest that if you feel that strongly about the subject then contact a Committee member directly and discuss it. As has been said on this forum before by other members, this is not the official way of contacting the Committee with regards to changes to the rules.
The Committwee members names and phone numbers are in the front of your membership book.

Thank you for updating me with recent events. I didnt post the message to change the rule as such but was basically seeing what others thought and maybe if the poll goes the right way i could then contact the powers who be and show them the pole.
As for those who would ruin it for the rest of us, do you not think that they and only they should be punished? For example i also fish on a syndicate lake and due to 3 young members getting a little drunk one night everybody was banned from night fishing. I just do not see the point in us all suffering for some stupid idiots.

I agree with you about punishing the few. This can be done if they are "caught in the act" so to speak. This is not always the case. Sometimes it can take days or even weeks before news of an incident comes to light, and if the culprits are not known then nothing can be done, however, if the same things keep occuring then the club has no option but to change the rules to try and prevent those incedents from re-occuring. Thus the few can ruin it for the many, and not through any real fault of the club.
I appreciate your idea for running the poll, although I think I can guess what the outcome will be

I would just like to highlight that the experiment of 3 rods at Willington between Nov-Feb is restricted to Night Permit holders. This rule change has been specifically introduced to encourage more anglers to be present on the lake first thing in the morning during the winter months in order to deter cormorants from visiting Willington.
Requests for rule changes need to be submitted prior to the AGM. Proposals to change the 2 rod rule to 3 rods have been voted on at the AGM in the past and have not been adopted by the members present.
Having a poll on a forum that is open to both members of the club and non-members is not representative.

I would support the 3 rod useage at Willington but not the Airman and would have it all year round rather than just the winter. Saying that I would also get rid of the night ticket too but that's another debate!

I cant see the problem of 3 rods in the deep end at airman. the swims are nicely spaced and lets be honest here its not the busiest water during the winter months!
If it is managed properly by the bailiffs it could work very nicely for the few who actually bother to turn up instead of sitting at home moaning about what other people are doing. I visited the pit twice a week thru the winter and can count on one hand the amount of people fishing the deeper water.

But it's not a rule that can be brought in for just one area of the lake though. If that happened you may get people turning up to find the deep end full and still wanting to fish 3 rods. If people pay for the privilidge they will want to excercise their right to use 3 rods whenever they want to!

I think the rules overall are going a bit far to be honest, and so what if you want to fish 3 rods in the shallower end. I was fishing the new point last month with one rod off the far bank (bend) and one under the rod tip in the margin. Who was i going to hurt by just casting another rod out to the middle?
As i said before give us some credit, yes their are some stupid people but the majority of us know what we are doing so why do we all suffer. And as for fishing in some one elses water space, this can happen with even two rods so just use a little common sense.
And after talking to a number of anglers last week i get the impression not too many people are rejoining for next season and alot of people are not happy with the club overall. I admitt this is just what i hear so i am not 100% sure.
