could any one please help me . i have walked round the lake on a few occasions and am having trouble with where to fish as i only seem to be able to find two used swims. they both seem to be at one end of the lake.is it any good on the opposite side to the power lines on the large end as this is the only safe place to fish that i can see.

Re: new to willington
Rob,
When you say safe I assume you are refering to the power lines.
I've not fished the lake but I have fished the river and seen people fishing on the car park side of the lake.
If when you come through the gate and go right towards the swing gate, there is a swim through the trees next to a lily bed. You can ony go a few yards before you hit the fence so it is not far.
There are others to the left of that.
When you run out of track going to the left there is another open section of water. I have only seen tench coming out of that area but quite a few of them.
Not first hand experiance but I'm sure there are quite a few swims. Hopefully you will get a more practical response.
Cheers
QT

Re: new to willington
Rob,
People do fish all the way round the lake, although there are no designated swims round a majority of the water. Obviously care must be taken if fishing near the power lines, but as long as you are sensible you should be ok. The swims in the trees just to the right of the entrance gate are popular, I have fished for Tench there on several occasions myself during the warmer months.
As for Carp, I dont have a great deal of experience down there and am hoping to spend more time down there myself this year. I know hte lake can get weedy during the summer but there are clear patches to be found.
I have seen numerous Carp mooching around the lily bed that QT is talking about, I have also watched them swimming parallel with the bank at the other end of the lake, in the field at the end of the track.
I'm afraid that is about the limit of my knowledge for Willington but hope you find it useful.
